IndoJazz clarinettist Arun Ghosh brings his exciting and vibrant quintet to Leicester Jazz House.

Joined by saxophonists Wayne Francis and Kenji Fenton, this three-horned and free-blowing frontline create Arun's characteristic sound, reminiscent of both Ornette Coleman and shehnai maestro Ustad Bismillah Khan. Propelled by driving hypnotic basslines and catatonic Eastern drum grooves, the band will be performing music from Arun's acclaimed albums, "Northern Namaste' and 'Primal Odyssey', as well as showcasing new material from his forthcoming 'South Asian Suite'.

Ghosh has made the clarinet the most undervalued instrument in jazz today suddenly fashionable. But that is only part of the story. This is a band with a mission. They have got something to say and believe passionately in the power of music to uplift the human spirit. The ultimate thing we can do with music is to communicate with people, communicate emotions, feelings, express what is in our hearts, without using words, says Ghosh. Transcending language, ultimately, and trying to express those things you cant express in words.
