Lineup and details for Quidrophenia on Monday 24th March 2008

Showcasing the best of Leeds’ music scene, the charity all-dayer Quidrophenia attracts music lovers from far and wide to witness the best in up and coming Leeds’ talent and putting Leeds on the music map – where it deserves to be!

Entry is a ‘quid’, hence the name, and all proceeds go to Cancer Research UK. From starting, Quidrophenia has managed to raise a whopping £3,650 for the charity, could this be the year that we reach the big £4,000?

Quidrophenia has acted as a platform for talented Leeds’ bands such as The Pigeon Detectives who have recently taken the music scene by storm.

Paul Lane
, manager of Oporto says, “I love hosting Quidrophenia. Each year, we seem to see more and more talented Leeds bands making it and it’s great to be part of that. It’s a fantastic event to be involved with and the fact that we get to raises great amounts of money for Cancer Research is a bonus.“

This bank holiday, expect to catch the likes of Oporto’s home grown legend Jack Afro; Leeds' favourite indie disco band, Dead Bells who’ll be playing their first comeback gig; folk musician Micky P Kerr; Pushbike Army; the two piece blues band The Old Romantic Killer Band who have recently played at sxsw (South by Southwest) festival in Texas – hotly tipped for 2008; and indie/dance band Red Go Green Stop just to name a few. There’ll also be a mixture of acoustic sets from Americana singer/songwriter Neil Mclarty (acoustic stage), The Rivers and Bongo Benny.

Starting at 2pm make sure you get down to Oporto to catch the best of what’s to be a bandfest to remember!
