People across Ilkley and North Yorkshire are being invited to a musical extravaganza as the Leeds Symphony Orchestra continue their concert season with a special performance in aid of the NSPCC.
Date: Friday 2 July 2010 at 7.30pm
Venue: Kings Hall and Winter Gardens, Station Road
Ilkley, LS29 8HE
Tickets: £10, per person, £8 for concessions and accompanied children free. Tickets are available from The Grove Bookshop, 10 The Grove, Ilkley, LS29 9EG and on the door.
Conductor: Martin Binks
The programme for the evening, under the professional baton of conductor Martin Binks, includes: Overture: Russian Easter Festival by Rimsky-Korsakov, Enigma Variations by Elgar, Vltava by Smetana, Symphony No. 5 in C minor by Beethoven
This is the seventh year the Leeds Symphony Orchestra has supported the NSPCC. They are hoping the concert will raise over £800 for the NSPCC’s Child’s Voice Appeal.
Speaking ahead of the concert, conductor Martin Binks, said: “We are all delighted to be performing again in Ilkley in aid of the NSPCC, a charity close to mine and the orchestra’s hearts. We hope lots of people will come along to enjoy the performance and help us support the charity’s Child’s Voice Appeal, everyone is welcome.”
The money raised will help support the NSPCC’s Child’s Voice Appeal which aims to expand the charity’s vital helplines – ChildLine the UK’s free, confidential 24-hour helpline for children and the NSPCC Helpline for adults concerned about a child.
Gill Warwick, NSPCC community fundraiser, said: “I would like to thank everyone at the Leeds Symphony Orchestra for their continued support and I am delighted they are holding another concert in Harrogate in support of the NSPCC. The evening has a fantastic line up of beautiful music and I’m sure it will be a thoroughly enjoyable night, please book your tickets now and help us raise valuable funds for vulnerable children and young people in Harrogate and across the UK.”
