Lineup and details for 'Empire of Crows' - Blue Rose Code on Thursday 29th March 2012

'Empire of Crows - feat. Blue Rose Code' @ Empire (Leeds), Thursday 29th March.

Featuring;

BLUE ROSE CODE -

Scottish-born London-based Blue Rose Code (Ross Wilson), first unleashed his folk/soul/roots with double a-side release 'Love' and 'Whitechapel' on indie Label Ho Hum. Since that critically acclaimed release Wilson's music has received praise from all quarters. In 2012, Ross continues his inexorable rise with a year-long partnership with clothing brand Aubin & Wills whilst being the subject of an 'urban craftsman' to be used at Soho House Cinema and having his music used to promote Valentine's Day for Marks & Spencers...Not bad for a lad from the wrong side of the tracks - Edinburgh's East End. Wilson's Spring UK & Ireland tour supports the release of his second single 'Julie' and subsequent debut album release in late Spring. In the words of Lauren Laverne; Ross is "one to watch".

"Gorgeous Celtic-influenced acoustic folk" - Time Out

"Yearning songs, timeless melodies" - The Magpie's Nest

"Musically flawless. There's a gentle embrace for your ears running through every chord" - Folkwords

"Imagine John Martyn meeting a young Van Morrison and being shipwrecked with a bundle of Chet Baker records" - Balcony TV

DANIEL PEARSON -

'Daniel Pearson trades in timeless and melodic songs that fuse the simplicity and directness of punk and alt.country to the heart-on sleeve honesty of classic singer-songwriters, sung with a unique voice thats equal parts confidence and vulnerability.

Growing up he fell in love with the US Alternative Rock typified by The Lemonheads, Nirvana and Elliott Smith, and his songs also channel a longtime love of The National, Bruce Springsteen and Ryan Adams. After early years spent gigging and recording in indie and punk bands Pearson relocated to Leeds and honed his solo sound in the live venues of the city, supporting a diverse range of acts like Wild Beasts, Rooney, The Rifles, One Night Only and Danny & The Champions of The World in the process. His acoustic-driven indie-rock became Daniels trademark sound, and as word spread about a distinctive artist crafting infectious melodies and bruised ballads he gained airplay on XFM and BBC 6Music and picked up a raft of positive coverage in local press.

THE CLIFFORD VILLAGE BAND -

"As the clouds drew back for the sun, the light of night had just begun. As the feather lay his head nor rest, the time for man to come was blessed. And as we stand without fear, let us tell the stories of old and weir!"
