Finally the time has come!!! High Contrast is an at the forefront of cutting edge Drum & Bass and is someone who the Lancaster Loves team have been trying to book for years. Thursday 28th October 2010 will see this superstar make his debut in the small city of Lancaster!
The name High Contrast needs no introduction anymore; though when a young Lincoln Barrett signed on the dotted line back in 2000 he was a complete unknown. Signed on the strength of his mini-disc demos, the Welsh wonder has smashed his way through the d+b scene in no time at all.
His debut longplayer True Colours was released on Hospital to massive critical acclaim in June 2002, paving the way for a move onto the international DJ circuit and helping him become remixer of choice for so many labels inside and outside of the drum+bass community.
More recently after reaching Drum & Bass superstardom he has releaed mix albums for Fabric and Mixmag and seen his White Stripes remix all over Radio 1. Missy Elliot and Blaze have also come knocking for a Contrast remix and the Worlds dance floors have been blown apart by that Gold Digger booty.
2007 saw the High Contrast success story continue, with the gargantuan single If We Ever all over Radio One, followed by arguably his finest album yet Tough Guys Don't Dance.. Rounding the year off with yet another huge remix - this time of Axwell's Ibizan anthem "I Found You", and his DJing skill saw him scoop BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix of the year, no less.
Riding high on the wave of success following Tough Guys, it was straight into 2008 with huge remixes of Utah Saint's "Something Good", Adele's "Hometown Glory" and Eric Prydz's monster hit "Pjanoo".
With High Contrast sitting firmly at dance music's top table, 2010 sees him rocking dance floors all over the globe. Headlining Hospitality at London's huge "Matter" nightclub and coming through with more daring and genius drum and bass. Expect the unexpected as High Contrast looks to keep things fresh in 2010.

★★★ SHY FX ★★★
Back by popular demand! This D'n'B superstar blew the roof off Lancaster Loves the last time he played...Do not miss out!
Shy FX crashed the British pop charts in mid-1994 with "Original Nuttah," one of the most infectious ragga/jungle anthems of all time. Though the success proved a bit too much for him, he built his reputation back over the course of a few years and became one of jungle's most respected producers. Born in East London, Andre Williams debuted on S.O.U.R. Records (Sound of the Underground) with two 1994 singles, "Gangsta Kid" and "Sound of the Beast." His third for the label, "Original Nuttah," perfectly epitomized jungle's growing ragga-ruffneck style, with a light-speed rhythm track and rude-boy scatting from UK Apachi. Almost immediately after its release, the single ignited dance clubs, flew out of the stores, and eventually made the British charts.
The quick success did little to endear Shy FX with the jungle underground, and his later pronouncements that he was the king of jungle didn't help either. Shy FX released just one more single for S.O.U.R., then virtually disappeared for several years after a major-label deal fell through. He finally emerged at the helm of his own label, Ebony, and with a growing list of tight singles like "The Message" and "Bambaataa," kinetic jump-up fusions of ragga attitude and old-school hip-hop themes. Shy FX also set up another label, Ivory, to release steady rollers by the likes of the 45 Roller -- almost undoubtedly Shy himself despite protests to the contrary. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide

★ D.O.D (AKA Dirty Dan) ★
D.O.D’s passion for music began when he bought his first set of turntables at the tender age of 11. Up until last year the DJ went under the name of his alter ego ‘Dirty Dan’, but after recently being signed to a record label it seemed a name change was due, and the name D.O.D was born! Now, at the age of 22, D.O.D is considered one of the most exciting new talents to come from dance music. Having literally played all over the country he rocks crowds every week, taking with him his unique, in your face turntable wizardry, playing a mix of House, Techno, Electro, Breaks, Dubstep, Drum & Bass, Hip-Hop and Indie.
It is not just his technical skills that separate him from the rest as his creative abilities and imaginative style always shines through when he hits the decks, never failing to impress. Before every show, he digs out the finest acapellas, bootlegs and instrumentals to bridge the gap for switching genres of music.
D.O.D has recently been signed to one of the country’s hottest new indie labels, ‘Gash Digital’. With various tracks and remixes already released and his debut EP ‘No Smoke’ due for release at the end of July, 2010 is set to be a busy year for the rising star. Two of his tracks on the forthcoming EP are being supported and played by house legend, Laurent Garnier.
D.O.D is resident for some of the hottest club nights in the North: ‘FWAP!’ in Preston, which is a 1600 capacity new night specializing in the unexpected! ‘Play’ in Lancaster, ‘Revolution Saturdays’ at various Revolution bars and clubs, and not to mention the hugely successful new club night ‘Lancaster Loves’. These residencies enable D.O.D to DJ alongside the biggest artists in the industry. Just this year alone he has gained praise from huge DJs such as Mistajam, Kissy Sell Out, Freemasons and Grooverider; all of them commenting on his enthusiastic and energetic nature behind the decks along with his precise but inventive use of CDJs.
D.O.D’s ability to play so many different styles of music has seen him become one of the most interesting DJs to hear and watch for a long time. Whether he’s playing a House warm up set, a pumping House and Techno peak time set, a Dubstep and Drum and Bass set or even and all out student mash-up frenzy, D.O.D is a DJ that must be seen.
