Lineup and details for LIVE GIG FUNDRAISER! on Friday 30th March 2012
Mental Health Research UK (reg. charity number 11125538) is the first UK charity dedicated to raising funds for research into mental illnesses, their causes and cures. To learn more about their work, please visit www.mentalhealthresearch.org.uk
We have arranged an eveni...ng of quality live music for your enjoyment in order to raise some funds for them. Entry is £5 on the door, we hope you'll agree this is quite the bargain for all of the following acts:
LOUIS BARABBAS & THE BEDLAM 6 (www.bedlamsix.com)
Louis Barabbas and his marauding bunch of unruly Mancunians will storm the stage with their peculiar brand of lyric-driven dirt-swing
"Excellent in every way: an outfit and a voice that belong in smoke-filled gin-joints where the booze drips off the ceiling and love is left outside"
Chris Hawkins BBC 6 music
OTTERSGEAR (www.mikeykenney.co.uk/ottersgear)
With everything from accordion to mandolin and the undeniable talents of Mikey Kenney leading the way, Lancaster based Ottersgear fuse beautiful songwriting with a mastery of their many instruments to provide a warm, rich, folk-edged sound.
RACHAEL GLADWIN (www.rachaelgladwin.co.uk)
Lancaster born Rachael Gladwin is a singing, songwriting, contemporary harpist. Rachael's music draws on influences from around the world and tumbles out with edges of folk and jazz. Her songs are lyrical and original, described by Sir Paul McCartney as 'beautiful melodies, lovely folky vibe, great feel.'
ROBERT JOHN (www.stilldowngill.com)
Manchester based musician Robert John can normally be found fronting rock/blues band Still Down Gill (theyre huge in Barnsley!). For solo shows, Robert John artfully combines dextrous blues and folk guitar with vocals that resonate with his rock roots.
BEN HAYWARD
Lancastrian Ben mixes intricate songwriting with elements of folk and pop, performing with a warm, wistful voice and a nod to the melodies of the 60s.
For those who are willing and able to make it, may we say a big thank you in advance!
All proceeds from the evening will be donated to Mental Health Research UK.
There will be a raffle (with really rather excellent prizes) and a cake stall to keep hunger at bay.
The evening will be compared by social hand-grenade Mr Benjamin Layton (thanks Layts).
Entry £5 on the door. Doors 7.30pm.
