Bella is one of the best chilled out family festivals in Scotland, and the Black Isle brewery cider is to die for!!! cant wait for next year! .... and il have a HUGE supply of Travel Johns so loos wont be a prob haha .... well done everyone involved in organising yet another fantastic weekend!

Security 'dropping tents' when we couldn't get out of the venue was a bit thoughtless. Loved the atmosphere and the diversity of kids entertainment, the stalls and performers. Recommended that everyone should come along. You'll love it!

![]() nooie2 Offline Points:26 Posts: 1 | Tartan Heart Festival 2011 Overall rating: ![]() Another great festival though maybe the wrong bands were on the bigger stages. If they are doing covers instead of original stuff, put them on the smaller stages. Toilets were a problem as said in most comments. Worst this year of the last 4 years I have been going! I don't know why you can't take your plastic glass back into camp. I will finish on a positive note though. Great atmosphere from thursday onwards. Great venue and getting better with new areas opened up. Good beer from Black Isle and St Helier cider. Great music (even with covers). Good variety of food. Side shows too. Sort the toilets. I will be back, one of the highlights of my year!!

However thank you to all at Bella for the music :)

JanetBebb Offline Points:22 Posts: 2 | Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival 2011 Overall rating: ![]() My first experience of Belladrum - it certainly won't be my last! Good points - The atmosphere was amazing, fun friendly & relaxed. A festival where people were there to enjoy themselves, have a dance & a drink but respect their fellow festival goers. The bands were diverse and all of good quality even if some weren't to my taste. I found a good few new bands I hadn't heard of before & isn't that what festivals are all about? New to me were Wooden Box & a Fistful of Fivers, Dry The River, Ben Howard, Webb Sisters, The Rivers 68's, Tom Odell, Ragdu Dixit, Sound of Guns, Eli Paperboy Reed & The Danglesberries. The reason I was there - KASSIDY & they didn't disappoint! Once again an amazing set full of energy & anthemic songs...blown away yet again! Bad points - Car park & entry - Need to plan this better next time. Rain & mud is inevitable. So more is needed in the way of keeping the problems these cause to a minimum. I've never been to any other festival where car's needed to be towed out of the car park! Washing facilities - Ok so you accept you'll need to tough it but a water trough to clean your teeth in wouldn't have gone a miss - please for next time? Other than that, I can only say 'well done Belladrum Team for putting together an excellent festival that I will be raving about until I come back your way next August & can't wait to do so'.

![]() tfboynton Offline Points:90 Posts: 1 | Belladrum Overall rating: ![]() An excellent festival to go to with children and friends. Lovely atmosphere. Plenty of things to do with kids. All contained in beautiful surroundings. Excelent local foods. Music wise, fantastic Scottish bands to great DJ's. We were in a travel home. Despite the mud and rain on arrival and departure, the staff were slick and efficient with an army of tractors to tow all who got stuck, and there were many, but it was so efficiently handled it was no problem. This is the perfect festival to go to as a family with a range of things for all age groups. It's small enough to be utterly charming safe and huge fun. Well done to all who organised it. We will be back next year.

PLEASE get the queueing sorted. After driving 3 hours to get there, it is no fun standing in the pissing rain for 2 hours to get in. Kids were fed up we were all soaked and our spare clothes, sleeping bags and food were damp. It was the same last year and I would have thought that this year the NEW ticket scanning system would have speeded it up. Not a good start!!! Toilets were generally well maintained but just too few. Why do you not put urinals in the camp site? We were in family camping and were lucky this year not to be beside any noisy families. Noticed lots of good will to keep camp site tidy but bins overflowing. Band were much better last year - I was dissapointed not to see Mr Boom. I WILL defo, be back next year but expecting improvments to queueing system. It cant possibly be that bad AGAIN. Thank you Bella

Toilets seemed to be lacking in the family area (and other camping areas) and they were not as well maintained as the Heiland Loo ones in the arena. Some staff very helpful others not!. No can or plastic recycling bins and the rubbish not cleared as quickly as it could have been. Severe lack of traffic management on the way out need more in the car park to ensure drivers let others meeting the ques join them. Quewent in quite quickly on Thursday really objected to queing again for over an hour to bring in our other stuff!!! To top it all some theiving **** took our parties trailor at some point on Sunday morning staff exceptionally unhelpful at this point. Police not interested either told to report it back home!!

SueHollands Offline Points:27 Posts: 1 | belladrum Overall rating: ![]() Our 10 year old son loved the heilan field (especially the flea circus). Quiet camping was great, appreciated being asked by security if it was quiet enough. A map showing quiet camping location on arrival (especially for first timers) would have been useful. We spent the first night squashed in a space in the green field and only discovered the quiet camping next day. A central notice board with map and details of bands and stages also a suggestion. We were disappointed by lack of recycling facilities for cans. Impressed by the friendly and safe atmosphere.

![]() MisssyM Offline Points:30 Posts: 1 | Bella Rocks Overall rating: ![]() Belladrum Festival is a chilled festival and that's the way we like it. Really liked the new Glastonbury-esque Hielan Field idea and the art and performance art on stage- more of that please- that moss covered volkswagen was amazing. And i love all the workshops for kids- that's what makes Bella a family friendly festival. As for the music I really have one major complaint- why so many covers bands? Especially on the main garden stage when up and coming original acts were relegated to smaller stages. A case in point was the excellent Lorelei who have a strong following, a new album and two nominations for Scottish Music Awards been only given a half hour slot on the tiny Potting Shed. Ska tribute acts and covers bands are fun, yes, but on the main stage? I also echo the problems with overzealous security that so many have highlighted already- friends had to queue up for hours with children in the rain to get into their camping sites on arrival. You need to get a swifter system- allow folk to camp on production of their printed off tickets. Then you'll have happier people. And what's the deal with children's IDs being needed? Really quite unnecessary. One last thing- the idea of getting kids to collect empty cups for money was GENIUS! The site stayed clean and the kids stayed busy all weekend.

![]() happywilbury Offline Points:22 Posts: 1 | Belladrum Overall rating: ![]() First time here but was disappointed to a certain extent: firstly i was majorly pissed off with the lack of signposting to the bag search/wristband area. After lugging a 6 man tent & luggage to the top of the hill, i was then told i needed to go over another hill (which was actually completely the wrong direction!!!) to get my wristband etc. Eventually got to the right bit but no thanx to the incompetent security people. The distance from the family camping area to the car park isn't too bad but as its all uphill, is a real struggle with whingeing kids! Campsite rules state there should be no amplified music in the family area after 11pm even though the music in the festival arena, which was just on the other side of the fence, went on way beyond this time! Get a grip on yourselves!!!! Again, lack of toilets - ended up buying a plastic bucket and using it instead. Good points: atmosphere very friendly, no queues for bars, kids activities excellent, variety of music very good. Would give it a second chance but if these issues aren't resolved then i'll be voting with my feet in future

Bad Points Noticeable lack of toilets this year. Shocking lack of stewarding when leaving. It took me 3 hours to just get out of the family area field. Walked in with glass jars of sauce and sharp knifes no questions asked. Friday and Saturday festival excelent. Well done! Belladrum please get the toilets sorted. Not enough and absolutely disgusting from friday onwards. kids had to use basin on Sunday as all toilets were blocked and stinking. Belladrum please get the exit system sorted. 4 hrs to get out of field. Cars furthest away from exit not moving because cars nearest exit were not being controlled to allow a fair flow. ![]() sazal Offline Points:51 Posts: 1 | Overall rating: ![]() I love Bella, It's one of the highlights of my year, this must be my 5th year and it just didn't do it for me. I'm not going to complain about the toilets because I thought they were better than last year, fewer together but more locations. What went wrong for me was the music, I don't expect to find big names at Bella but seriously, what was with the line up this year. I love the family orientated atmosphere Bella brings every year but to me it felt this year was like a party a 16 year old throws when their parents are out. Children in groups smoking and drinking at the main gate in full view of security. Where are the parents? What an example to be showing our ten year old. It has never been that bad. I think it's one thing to have free child tickets but another to allow 7 tickets per paying adult! Does Bella want to become the underage festival known for drunk kids. It wasn't family orientated it was large groups of 16 year olds doing whatever they pleased. Shame feels like Bella is losing it's edge. Good points- no long waits to be served at the bar, beautiful location, chilled relaxed atmosphere, lovely scottish vibe, safe. Every year I leave looking forward to the next one but this year I'm in doubt if I'd go back. To me Bella has lost it's magic, diappointing. I've put I wouldn't recommend but up until now I've raved about it. Note to the organisers- sort out your security, you can't take in mallets but you can have kids drinking at the main gate. Also start out bag serching and abandon it because there's huge queue's sort out your entry system, not compromise your security and maybe employ proper security and not kids on school holidays.

We stayed in the Yurts where the loos were very clean and well maintained. Toilets in festival were quite disgusting at night but ok in the daytime. Food and music fantastic. Lots to see and do. Boys really enjoyed the headphone disco. Well done and thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make it such a success.

KerryAtkey Offline Points:30 Posts: 1 | Belladrum for the first time Overall rating: ![]() Fabulous even, great mix of music and so much for all ages to get their teeth into. The kids loved the craft activities, shinty pitch and drumming workshop. Us adults found the venue easy to get around, drinks easy to access and the food was really tasty local produce. The music kicked ass and we carted the kids around in the wheelbarrow until midnight to make the most of it. The only negative was the lack of loos. The 2 "accidents" of the solid variety my small kids had to endure due to enormous queues for a toilet in the family campsite particularly annoyed me. Belladrum, If you are digging poos out of the shrubbery for the next few weeks it probably serves you right :0) In summary: Fabulous event Belladrum, you should be proud.

![]() davebcox Offline Points:18 Posts: 1 | Belladrum good and not so good Hi all, The music was brilliant and we were introduced to some great acts that im sure will make a big impression on the world of music. belladrum is one of those festivals that's just enough and doesn't leave you wanting more, but leaves you musically satisfied that you came. There was a good choice of food and the stalls were everything you'd expect. The atmosphere was generally good natured and nothing really out of sorts that you wouldn't find any where else..... However, The down side, I found the security, just a little too much, having my bags checked 3 times in the space of half an hour was a real invasion, why you may ask? well to be fair at the point of entry, glass and sharp objects seems reasonable, but to be questioned how i would knock my tent pegs in (no mallets allowed...WHAT?) and then to be told later, to check for alcohol on entry into the main arena, errm hello, what about drugs? Then later to be told i can have alcohol in my tent but cant take beer ive bought in a plastic thing from the main arena to my tent, what is that? this is rules for the sake of rules..naah, not right, then to see under age kids being served beer and smoking whilst the security looked on..not acceptable...will i be back, at the moment, yeah id come back for the music, but if we face this again, ill vote with my feet...and too little toilets, a minor thing really, OK Victor Meldrew moment over, still great music though...

Your standards are dropping. More portaloos!! If people are buying tickets for babies maybe there should be something to remind them to put ear defenders on them. Only saw one with them on all day and one guy dancing with his baby besides speakers. They'll be too deaf to enjoy Bella when they're old enough to go without mam and dad. Fantastic day music and atmosphere wise - and can't wait till next year.

TheresaBrims Offline Points:26 Posts: 1 | Wisked weekend had by me :) Overall rating: ![]() Can only second what has already been said, the entry system was horrendous having to queue everytime you went back the car for stuff meant it took hours as we had to make 7 trips....we were lucky though and often got the same security guy who was lovely...think he was welsh so well done to that man as he was so friendly. Mallets were not allowed in to put up tents, that does make it a bit difficult and people don't need a weapon if they are going to be eedgits. Toilets were a nightmare by the end with some not flushing at all and just a bit disgusting and not enough....last year I do not remember it being such a problem..when you start to seriously considering just peeing in your wellies instead it can not be a good sign ;) Saying all that I still think it is an amazing festival and I will be back and the atmosphere was fantastic :)

TonySmith1 Offline Points:24 Posts: 1 | Bella going downhill? Overall rating: ![]() As already pointed out, fewer toilets this year didn't make for a pleasant time. Also serious confusion about car parking for caravan users, we were allowed to print access passes off the internet site but weren't allowed to use them to gain access to the caravan area. This meant anyone coming later to join families in a caravan had to walk across the entire venue, not easy when carrying shopping, clothes etc. Security were way to zealous, give some people a radio and uniform and they think its a licence to be bullies. Belladrum, get it sorted or we won't be back, if this doesn't bother you cos you reckon someone else will buy the tickets then that just shows how downhill Bella has gone. This was supposed to be the peoples festival!

However, if you're looking for the perfect line up and four star facilities, then look elsewhere. It's a small festival so the choice of acts is limited. There's usually something for everyone, but if you want to see 10 of your favourite bands, you'd be better off at a bigger festival. Go to Belladrum if you want a chilled weekend. There were fewer toilets than last year. I hope this isn't a trend.
