Lineup and Details for Three Choirs Festival - Period String Masterclass with Rachel Podger on Mon 23rd July 2012
Following our very successful brass quintet masterclass last year, Rachel Podger will lead a masterclass for period string players. Five students from the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music, Guildhall School of Music & Drama, The Royal Welsh College of Music and Birmingham Conservatoire will perform unaccompanied Bach of their own choice on either a period or modern instrument.
The Masterclass will run from 2pm to 5pm and be filmed by the Masterclass Media Foundation as a teaching DVD for distribution to music colleges globally.
The masterclass will be followed at 5.15pm by a competitive performance showcasing the work covered. This will be adjudicated by Rachel Podger, Maggie Faultless (Leader, Music for Awhile Orchestra), Adrian Partington (Artistic Director, Gloucester Three Choirs Festival) and Karen Stephenson (Philharmonia Orchestra).
Audience members will be free to come and go as they please.
