Paula Darwish is back with an new line up and a new night called Club Couscous. In addition, to Serpil Kilic ( Turkey) on saz ,the band now has  new members Carlos Ballester ( Spain) on guitar and Nasser Althefferi ( Kuwait) on darbuka. Club Couscous is all about music from Turkey, the  Mediterranean, the Middle East, North Africa and Manchester. That means live music from Paula, the band and special guests followed by trashy middle eastern and  turkish pop  from  DJ Couscous to round it all off.  Don't expect sandals and kaftans - this night is as much about rock and dance grooves as it is about ethnic origins.
Paula Darwish was born in England to arabic parents and now sings in turkish, kurdish and english.  Her band, The Country and Eastern Band blends the spirit  of rock with eastern rhythms and melodies and has been described as " a Transglobal Underground for the  21st Century". If you think 400 year old Anatolian folk songs can't make you rush for your dancing shoes then think again. Expect the unexpected and you may even hear a Dolly Parton song or two slipped into the set. Special guests will be Nazan Celen( vocals) Adam Ward ( darbuka) and Ed Wolfensteine (fiddle ).
