Lineup and Details for Black Manila Ft Piatcions + Caravan Club on Tue 10th July 2012

BLACK MANILA

Rock and roll will never die. Black Manila are a band that dont just say it, they live it.

Resurrecting the licks and gravelly tones of Americas garage rock scene and uniting it with English raw appeal and psychedelic undertones, they have the sound to... back it up.
Loud, raucous and playing with swagger, they are converting non-believers.

Formed in 2010 and hailing from South London, the band previously released material on Big Dirty Engine Records, part of the Jaguar Shoes collective. Since then, they have toured France and Italy and been busy creating new material. On this, their 2nd debut the group have moved forward, without losing their gritty and untamed personality. They are now in their own words less teenage and more together, hungry to affect a generation.

Fiasco and England are to be self-released on 30th April. The tracks have been mastered by Mike Marsh. Mike has mastered legendary dance and rock records by Stereo MCs, Bjork, Oasis as well as Massive Attack, Chemical Brothers and Basement Jaxx.

Fiasco, Gareth aka Sun King explains is about when you get to the point of being so completely and unavoidably shunted by drink, you feel like youre flying high above everything. Its so easy to get swept into passionate things when drunk and no doubt, drink doesnt always have to be the drive to get you there

B-side England conjures up the land as the band see if through their cracked psychedelic mirror. Conrad says The perception of what it is to be an English Man has been completely rewritten by my generation. Britannia now rules the waves through the Arts, music and literature, I am much prouder to be part of this New England. They have written their own national anthem, thought provoking and potent; maybe it will affect a generation after all.

The work is exquisite in Fiasco The Wounded Jukebox

Fiasco is right in the sweet spot of all groovy things 60s. Review Stalker

Sounds something like dipping The Strokes in Jack White The 405

Fiasco touches on ferocious art-rock and sneering punk as well. Over repetitively hypnotic guitar strums, nasally excitement from the vocals gives a foreboding sense of a big chorus Obscure Sound

Black Manila are a band who have clearly decided that rock n roll at its key, most core level is a degenerate art form, played by outcasts. Something that shouldnt be downloaded but rolled up, smoked, consumed and soaked in through every pore Clash Magazine

England isnt dirty, its absolutely filthy. Its also genuinely electrifying, and furthermore the group are British. If you thought this stuff only comes from Texas think again. Stage Dive

The raucous explosion of England Think The Animals fronted by Mick Jaggerlots of biting, dirty guitar riffs backed by a truly nasty rhythm section. Get ready to get your ears rocked off. The Dadada.

Piatcions

Piatcions are a 4 piece garage/psych/nu gaze band from Domodossola, a small town between the Alps in Northern Italy, not far from Switzerland but close to Milan as well. Those young boys have style indeed. In love with the 60's garage sound, but with a Mod attitude, they are open minded enough to absorb in their sound modern elements as the fucked up cool spacey lesson of Jesus & Mary Chain and The Warlocks, along with the groove of bands like The Hives and The Strokes. "Fireworks Generation" was recorded fully analogic at the Inside-Outside Studios, owned by Mojomatics. Thee Piatcions have been invited to join the International Pop Overthrow Festival in Liverpool, and in May '09 they played at the legendary Cavern Club.. The band then toured France and Benelux in September '09.
Piatcions released in spring 2010 the single "Time", a masterpiece of indie pop not far from The Charlatans, early Warlocks and My Bloody Valentine.

PRESS QUOTES:

Kinda like The Sonics after dipping their cocks in a beehive, or maybe the 13th Floor Elevators with ants in their pants.
Artrocker/The Devil Has the Best Tuna (UK)

Cool attitudes matched with a natural ability to produce pure organistic sounds, only a few can express a connection with this certain Rock N Roll gene. Mojophenia (UK)
The Caravan Club

The Caravan Club are a 6 piece band and are fast becoming one of Edinburgh's must see bands. Best known for their strong harmonies between lead singers Liam Mabon and Lisa Russell, this band has been going from strength to strength - adding to their unique sound with sexy violins, trumpet, funky bass, genius guitar playing and a lashing of Toms. An innovative and exciting blend of old meets new, folk vs indie rock, their sound is as current as it gets.
they recently headlined Leith Festival and headlined the Square Stage
