Lineup and details for Fridge Magnets on Friday 16th March 2012
Fridge Magnets - http://www.facebook.com/TheFridgeMagnets
It all started with a few gigs in slightly more humble venues such as ABC 2 and King Tuts, Glasgow, however promoters quickly realised that this is a band that can both draw a crowd, and more importantly, keep them entertained . As a result they were soon putting in excellent performances at the likes of Rockness, T In The Park and Belladrum festivals, and supporting the likes of Calvin Harris, Alex Metric, Japanese Popstars and Burns.
They have received Radio 1 support for tracks, Miss Right, and Death of Rock 'N' Roll, the latter of which was played several times thanks to an eye catching video that has become a bit of a minor hit on Youtube.
If you are looking for an insight into what the band actually sound like they describe themselves as a mash up of Calvin Harris and Deadmau5 with elements of Example and Faithless. Winton never fails to get the crowd going and his professional and consistent front man performances backed up by the musical talents of Ciaran Pasi (bass), Laurie Sanderson (lead guitar), Chris Philip (drums) and Campbell Nelson (synthesiser/programming) rarely disappoint.
It has become very clear that Fridge Magnets are destined for bigger and better things and not surprising that they have been invited to play at huge events such as The Lynx All Nighter at Londons Coronet Theatre. In a recent interview with STV, Campbell Nelson stated "Swapping places with The Prodigy would be a dream, they provide the type of live show that we aim to have one day. They fill any arena in any country." This is a bold statement but one that, by account of their recent performances, you have to take seriously.
If you don't actively seek out Fridge Magnets you will most likely come across them sooner or later as they are destined for Rock-stardom. Check your festival line ups, your local clubs and all the best dance bands supporting acts and youre sure to see the name pop up sooner or later. It may be the 'Death of Rock 'N' Roll' but it's definitely not the death of electro rock, only the beginning.
