Difference between tin tents n tents?

Can anyone tell me why it cost us an extra £25 to bring our camper and folks pitchin a tent didn'y pay extra. What were we paying for that tents weren't? Our group of 12 were using exactly the same facilities as tenters so why the extra cost?

id assume it was to cover the cost of repairing the grass after you drive all over it looking for a spot to camp in.

Re: Difference between tin tents n tents?

Is it only £25 to bring a camper. That's not bad, I might think of that for next year.

This hasn't quite worked out the way you intended eh 2000? Sorry, wasn't intentional but I actually think that this price is reasonable.

Re: Difference between tin tents n tents?

Yup TiTP was £100, Glasto £50 etc so £25 is a bit more than the smaller festivals but in line I reckon with average.

Perhaps it's for extra insurance etc for the risk of gas cookers?

Plans are in place to build a luxury swimming pool and a toilet block for you, but in the mean time its for some of the reasons above and others. Most campervans are big heavy machines which destroy fields. If you don't like the extra £2 each it cost you, then remember your tent next time.

Wasn't actually complaining about the price was just curious as to why the extra cost.

Re: Difference between tin tents n tents?

Shouldn't there be a charge per tent peg? Camper vans don't leave these lying around for the coos to choke on....

Hmmm - I think £25 for a van is a hefty charge, when you consider that camper van people don't bring cars onsite.

Re: Difference between tin tents n tents?

The campervan/caravan field had Yet again abandoned caravans in it the cost of me getting rid of these is considerable, Not to say that there weren't tents left behind but they don't tend to weigh half a tonne each.

Scrap value is pretty good these days, sounds like a good money-spinner - bring your old banger to the Wickerman and we will recycle it for you.

Re: Difference between tin tents n tents?

Matt, I wish to get the value of scrap from a caravan involves many hours stripping it down, dealing with old fiberglass insulation etc. the bulk of the weight is the steel chasis not much value and the Ally body shell might make £30. The only thing we can do is to pay to have them removed.

Re: Difference between tin tents n tents?

Sorry, i just spotted you were talking about `caravans`, not `campervans`, my mistake.

Personally i wouldn`t let the caravan pullers onto the park. Its probably a good and cheap way for them to dispose of an unwanted trailer, and have a good weekend in the process. It would be a good idea to make a little list of who is pulling what, and then send the buggers a clean up bill if its left behind.

Re: Difference between tin tents n tents?

No worries

It is why most festivals don't let caravans on due to them getting left. The old ones cost as little as a tent from the suppermarket or are given away to free up space on peoples land.

Mine I got for free and with a little work, now does the season with me filled with bin bags, signs, cables and anything else that won't fit in the van.

Re: Difference between tin tents n tents?

I have been coming to the festy for five years and each year the problem with thefts from the tents got worse. We decided this year to borrow a family members caravan to give it a try.Dont think there should be an extra charge as there were as many tents in the caravan field as caravans.Smile can apreciate the reasons given by others, but will go back to a group of tents next year as the atmosphere was better. Also there doesnt appear to be as many complaints re theiving in the camping field this year, although i am sure peeps will put me right if there was....Takecare all and see you next time.Wink
