Last year soft drinks were allowed into the main Arena, you can cook by your tent but no fires or charcoal BBQ`s allowed.

Quiet campsite is free. Matt has answered the cooking question correctly, and im fairly certain sealed soft drinks were allowed into the arena though I will double check and come back to you on that one.

is the family campsite being moved this year (or are the dance tents being moved). My blowup bed was bouncing up and down last year and it wasnt due to having "company"!

Re: few questions from a newbie

Hi Hibby

We've had extensive talks about this as we realise it was a problem on the Friday night. It's a difficult one as yes, the noise in the quiet campsite was completely unnaceptable on the Friday night, it was also a bit too quiet in the dance tents on the Saturday night.

So yes, the obvious answer would be to move the tents, its just when you fix one problem you are in danger of creating 5 more! Generally sound related, but also problems with access and all manner of things you wouldn't think about.

I do believe however a solution is on the cards and we will feed back more when there is a public answer - however to answer your original question all steps possible are been taken to make the quiet campsite a lot quieter!

Obviously the furthest camping area away from the arena will provide the quietest pitch for your tent, you might have a 10 minute walk to get back but it could be worth the peace. Last year i pitched next to the reggae tent, and got no sleep for 3 days as a consequence.

Re: few questions from a newbie

Hey! Hope you enjoy the wickerman, was my first festival last year's one and me and my friends had a great time! Really cold at nights but i mostly wanted to say something about the cooking.

The police stopped me and my friends at the gate last year for a search and the festival organisers were unhappy at camp stove gas cans being taken in, probably due to them being used as missiles at other festivals. All our food we had was tinned pretty much so they took one can off me and let me through with the rest.

I dont know anyone else had the same problem with this but maybe best getting a methalated spirits powered stove to avoid living off the burger vans. Hope you have a good time!

Re: few questions from a newbie

Surprised by that, can't recall any rules stating you can't use gas stoves?

That said, we had a charcoal bbq that was raised off the ground away from the tents and never got asked to put it out

Re: few questions from a newbie

I don't remember any rules against gas and remember a number of people using them, when used correctly they are on of the safest ways of cooking at a festival. For obvious reasons they aren't allowed in the arena, but campsite is fine.

I will clarify this and confirm the situation mind.
