2010 Article
A LITTLE ABOUT US
Cheshire’s biggest home grown music festival is back for a second time following the phenomenal success of last year’s event. With intense headline slots from the likes of young up and coming British bands: Underground Heroes and Kid British who will lead the line-up up of other regional and national bands in the Indie and Rock aren...a.
The first dance arena will showcase a number of house music artists such as the likes of X press 2, who will be pumping out their dirty, chunky tribal house sound's into the early hours of the morning. Germany's Matthias Tanzmann will be taking a break from his hectic touring schedule at some of the best club nights in the world to give us a day time set straight from the terraces of DC10. Lee Mortimer will also be present showcasing one of his bass-fuelled fidget house sets that's sure to be banging along with energetic sets from Leftroom records boss Matt Tolfrey and Trevor Loveys amongst many more.
The other dance stage will host hard dance legends Mark EG and Amber D with an all out assault on your senses! there will also be some dark grimey bassline Dubstep from bar 9 and Drum and Bass from one of the most exciting dnb acts in the UK today DC breaks! amongst many others throughout the day and night. The fourth stage will include a mixture of smaller local bands and DJ's from around the area so no matter what genre of music your into, there will certainly be something to suit your tastes.
Cloud 9 was the brainchild of Congleton residents Nick Mullis, Dan Biddulph, Ian Whiston and Martin Wheelton. They were inspired to create something extraordinary for the people of Congleton with a view to crafting something that could one day be as big as Wakestock or even Glastonbury. Cloud 9 is so unique and special because it has the feel of a small community event whilst still attracting people from all around the country.”
The festival itself will be held in a field just outside of Sandbach, Cheshire that will be transformed into a music lover’s haven. It’s due to take place on Saturday 7th August although you can camp on the Friday night before for a few beverages and to prepare yourself thoroughly for the live music starting midday Saturday.
With a budget this year in excess of 50,000 pounds, there will be no expense spared in quality, so your guaranteed to get the best there is in sound systems, lighting and stages. The festival will also incorporate white knuckle rides and Zorbed balls for the thrill seekers amongst you, a ‘banter zone’ for those who are just up for laugh while graffiti artists and painters will entertain the creative individuals. Of course there will also be a large bar area and traditional hog roast, noodle bar, local ice creams and a selection of other eateries to tickle your taste buds.
Also back by popular demand, will be the Multi Channel Silent Disco with a range of different music being played simultaneously to keep everybody happy until the very early hours. If you havn't experienced this new phenomenon before then its basically two to three DJ's playing to a crowd all wearing headphones, it means the person dancing next to you could be listening to a house classic while your singing away to Oasis.
