Lineup and details for Ghost Hunt - Ghost Hunting at Hylands House on Friday 13th April 2012
This is a fantastic location, with a great history.
Dare you join our team and Psychic Medium as we investigate this location, and look deep into its past.
Reported sightings are vast, including physical contact.
This event is not for the faint hearted.........
Built in 1730 as a modest red brick Queen Anne style house, Hylands House has changed and developed considerably throughout its 270 year history. Nine different owners have each stamped their own personality on the house, extending and remodelling according to their tastes and the fashion of the day, During World War I, Hylands House was requisitioned for use as a military hospital, and over 1,500 patients were treated there. Sir Daniel the then owner was also a keen explorer and accompanied Sir Ernest Shackleton on the first leg of his bid to reach the South Pole, but returned home early, suffering from severe frostbite, During World War II, the estate was the site for a German Prisoner of War Camp, and the house was used by the SAS as their headquarters. When the final owner died in 1962, the house was left to ruin.
Having been left empty for over 20 years it was eventually restored to the grand location that you see now by the local council and has been used for many occasions from the 'V' festival to amateur productions of "Pride and Prejudice".
After a recent site visit by members of our team, they learnt of staff at Hylands experiences within the building.
One member of staff reported seeing a full apparition of a man wandering the 1st floor landing wearing a victorian frock coat, hat and carrying a set of keys.
Another now does not venture into the cellars alone after hearing a voice say "Get Out " !
The library is said to hold a heavy oppressive atmosphere, where the spirit of an angry male is reported. He is said to be unhappy with strangers in the house, asking previous visitors too leave immediately !!
And the spirit of a young girl who appears in the drawing room when the piano is played. Any of our guests are invited to play this piano during the nights investigation to try and recreate this reported phenomena.
After the visit the team all agreed that this is a fantastic location with so much reported phenomena, it is sure to be an investigation to remember.
We will start the night with a brief introduction of ourselves followed by a familiarisation of all the equipment that will be available for you to use during the night. We will then continue the night with a guided tour of the location by the team and Psychic Medium who will relay what he is picking up in each of the several spectacular rooms, ranging from the exquisitely gilded Drawing Room to the sumptuously ornate Banqueting Room. Ascend the magnificent Grand Staircase to the Repton Room on the first floor, Next door is the Social History Room offering a variety of exhibits.
Once you are all familiar with the location we will seperate you into smaller investigation teams and conduct your own vigils, under the watchful eyes of our experienced team.
This is your oppurtunity to handle and be taught how to use our ghost hunting equipment correctly, ready for your own vigils.
You will constantly have the oppurtunity to join in with experiments such as table tipping, seances and glass divination.
If you dare, you can choose to stay alone in areas which we know to be of strong paranormal activity, but be warned we will be carrying out experiments to encourage ghostly happenings.
Remember to bring a camera / camcorder to capture paranormal evidence.
Join us if you dare...........
