May 14th is Nakba Day, marking the dispossession and 'ethnic cleansing' of the indigenous Palestinian people from their homeland. Celebrating the amazing solidarity between the Irish and Palestinian peoples, South East Kent Palestine Solidarity Campaign is bringing together two great sets of performers: fabulous all-woman dabke dance troupe, Hawiyya and Kent-based Ceilidh Tree Band, well known for their ace fiddles and brilliant caller - guaranteed to get you dancing! Hawiyya recently wowed the public with a performance on Hastings Pier!
Local star chef, Paul Babra, will be selling his delicious food as soon as doors open at 7 pm for a 7.30 start.
We are committed to bringing Palestinian voices, culture and stories to East Kent and to embed international, human solidarity into our communities. The Westgate Hall is a vibrant community venue. Spacious, and covid-aware.
