The Prime Minister and the Chancellor are preparing a puritanical budget, taxing amusements such as bingo, gambling and night-clubs out of existence. Shocks are in store for both, however, as each,
in turn, appears to the father of the lovely Shirley, a result of a post-party conference night many years ago. Wanting to hush things up, they are hampered by the arrival of a nosy female journalist and the Prime Minister’s wife, with the added complications of the Chancellor’s secretary’s suppressed affections for the PM’s secretary thrown in for good measure.
