Tim Baker’s new adaptation of Steinbeck’s classic novel is more than just an epic tale of the Joad family’s fated trip from the dust bowls of Oklahoma to the “promised land” of California. This adaptation successfully captures Steinbeck’s feeling that the generosity of spirit he saw in a brutal country was not so much lost as once more.
