Not as good as it was hyped up to be.
Overall rating: 3

Block party was no where near as good as it was hyped up to be, still a good night but could of been much better. Really spread out venues with really pushy door staff, bars under staffed and understocked (ran out of most drinks in alot of arenas) no maps to tell you where to go or what to do. I paid ages ago for a super early bird, they were selling them on the door for the same price, so was a waste of my time. I wont be going next year.

Ruined by drug Spiking!!!!
Overall rating: 4

why the fk do you not have police sniffer dogs at entrance???? thanks to this place my drink got spiked!!!!! and suffering from high anxiety and panic attacks my night took a massive turn for the worse!!! i have been up till 7 am having a bad trip trying to keep my self cool so not to incur a major panic attack!! 5 attacks last night in a room filled with dead looking people is not a good night guys!!

As for the music, it was amazing and the venue reflected the mood and worked well!! I would seriously recommend you take your drugs policy more seriously in the future!!!

Not worth the Money
Overall rating: 3.5

Altho the music was good the venue for the headliners was too small and alot of people couldnt get in. Security staff were agressive, unhelpful and some of them seemed drunk. A map would have been useful as we couldnt find all the venues we wanted - although it was cool to walk around the city at night to find all these random venues it was quite confusing. The bars were understaffed and drinks overpriced (advertising drinks for £1.50 on flyers when its £5.50 for a double vodka/coke -so whats £1.50...? bottled water!?)Mr Hudson performed 1 1/2 songs... even the DJ looked suprised when he went offstage. I wouldnt go next year... I'd rather spend £20 picking my own 4 clubs to go to... where its not so cold I feel like I'd rather be in a fridge!

Truly Perfect!
Overall rating: 5

It was literally amazing in every single way! Music was amazing, live acts were mint, bass was just so intense, my heart wanted to explode. All the venues WERE big enough and it was easy to get a drink so i dunno what people were complaining about on that front lol! It was Cheap cheap cheap! and as for the atmsphere, proper electric. Cannot wait for the next one! i am 110% there, Great job with planning etc. Mint Mint Mint!

Badly organised, certainly not as good as I expected :(
Overall rating: 2.5

There were no maps, so nobody really knew where they were going. eventually found Arena 1 which was tiny and crammed. Saw Scott mills and the wombats who were both good but that was about the only decent thing. Drinks were pricey enough, and the entire place seemed so disorganised!! The least that could have been done was sign posts to the different areas, i swear we only saw about 20% of the actual area. Security guards seemed drunk or just stupid. Glad i only paid £20 for the ticket although it still feels like a rip off!

Music was a really good mix, but i think some people didnt have the festival type attitude. Works well at custard factory but needed more information about, like maps and signs. and next time, release the set times before, how hard is it!!!?

Overall rating: 4

It was great night, fantastic music and nice people, silent disco was brilliant,a bit gutted about the foam party;/
More signs and maps would be an advantage but nevermind.
What made me laught was the party organisers in silent disco having good fun too.

Cheers for good fun!!

Reading other peoples reviews, I'd like to say bottled water was actually £2, the only drink that was £1.50 was sour shotz - so basically advertising drinks at that price was pretty stupid.

The amount of people I saw taking drugs put me off the whole night - and when I told various secruity guards/police they actually said "how is that affecting you?" Well the fact someone's just said they got spiked on here, was pretty much my point.

Overpriced. Skanky. Unorganised.

(But some of the music was pretty decent)

Music mostly good, everything else terrible
Overall rating: 2.5

Poorly organised. No maps signs/ security staff didnt have a clue what was going on and were rude. Unsurprising so many people were taking drugs given the price of drinks, I walked out soberer than when I went in. Coach from Nottingham was also terribly organised and reps were drunk and late. "Guaranteed to be the best night of this year" I want a refund for a guarantee like that.

Decent but needs some improvements!
Overall rating: 4

It was a very good night. Nice to meet random people from other universities and the fact that it is a student party where students from all over the world could come. Only one complaint would be of the security staff/stewards. Most of them did not have much of a clue of what events were happening where. And some of them instead of saying "I don't know" pointed us to the wrong directions and made us join the wrong queues. The Staff on the night should have some sort of induction on the lienup of events and the location. Other than that, A pretty good event!

A bit disappointing..
Overall rating: 3.5

I loved the music, great variety to suit all tastes and some great names playing great sets.
I loved the idea of all the different venues, but they were really spread out - and it was incredibly cold (making us stand and wait in the rain to make the queue look good was not fun!) Would be amazing in the summer.
The whole night was ridiculously unorganised. We nearly missed our bus on the way in because we were told to arrive 15 minutes after the driver was told to leave. And on the way back we were directed to the street with all the other coaches, when ours was infact on the street we were dropped off on. Only 6 of us made the bus back (despite waiting there for 45 minutes).
Maps would have been good. Luckily a mate of mine had a map from a random flyer she was given months ago.
Drinks were stupidly priced. The barman looked pissed off at me when I asked where the £1.50 drinks were. Perhaps prepaid drinks wristbands could be a plan for next year? Can't say I was suprised at the amount of drugs around...
I feel as though it started waaay too early. Everyone peeked too soon! Even if it started at 7pm, would be better.
Overall I enjoyed the night, but it wasn't what I had expected. So much for the 10,000 students!!

Again, very disorganised. Bad attitudes from the security staff who were also very ignorant about the events. Overall I don't think the concept worked; far too big. And 10,000 students? Yeah right

The worst event I have ever been to, I was asked to leave by a bouncer because I was kissing my boyfriend (and I myself am a boy) and I forked out 20 quid for it, have asked for refund and am writing an article about it. ABSOLUTE GARBAGE.

Good music overall, had lots of fun but drinks were very expensive and some venues were filthy (mud and water on the floor). I also expected to be more crowded...definitely not worth 38 quid (35+3 for booking fees)

Bouncers were terrible
Overall rating: 3.5

Overall the event was good value for money considering I paid the early bird price of £20, wouldn't have been worth more though. I expected cheaper drinks prices. Also the bouncers were extremely rude and unprofessional. My friend got kicked out completely unprovoked and I was threatened to be kicked out just for following up what was a a very unfair thing to do. Sort your security out. Were paying customers, not just students you can fleece and give poor service to.

Skiddle aren't the organisers!

Cherryhead - I'd like to just make it clear that skiddle had NOTHING to do with the organisation of the event coaches - we are a ticket outlet and not the event organisers!

We were informed at 5pm on Friday by the organisers that coach times had been changed, and worked late into Friday night to inform people of the changes by sending out email updates or ringing people if their coaches had been cancelled.

Understandably some people are annoyed about coaches - I'd advise you to contact GetOnIt (the organisers of Block Party) if you wish to complain directly

Cheers
Ben Skiddle

What a fucking good party !!!!!
Overall rating: 4

it was my first party like that...and since im in UK (1 year...im french héhé) it was my best party !!!

For the music, good becuz several kinds of sound, so everybody could be satisfy. Pity that there wasn't faster sound like hardtech.

atmosphere, yes cool, friendly, I didnt see fight, just people with smile and who wanted to have fun....only pbm, guys who sold drugs....too much like in free parties in France, next time ask police to come wiv their dogs. its not dificult i think.

And for the prices, too expensive, water at £1.50 or 2, that was crazy

So yeah good party for me...cant wait for the next one,i will be there !!!!!

I think it had the potential to be fantastic, however I was disappointed. I thought it was pretty unorganised for such a huge event, particularly the travel arrangements, with changing the times on the day and coaches showing up very late, not even knowing where they were going. There was a good mix of music, yet I found that the advertising was wrong in many places: there was no drained lake, it was a pool; no foam party for safety reasons; I did not see Rokeyoke for example. It was these small details that seemed to get overlooked at the advertisments said they would be there: you know in advance so don't say it if it won't be around. I thought the food was good, though the drinks were a tad over priced. And it was ridiculous that every new place you went into, you had to throw away your drink from the last place, even if you'd only just bought it. I also thought that security on the rides could have been better. I was on the dodgems and some people went crazy, yanking us out of cars and running on in the middle of people's turns. Some of the lads were quite brutal shoving you out of the way and my friend seriously injured her neck and head because of it.

Room for improvement....
Overall rating: 3.5

Good points:
*Shots were £1.50! So I was happy but I hear alot of people wern't so happy.. To be fair a VK was like £3 which is a rip off. Took some vodka in with me anyway so that helped
*Music was good! Loved all the dubstep.
*Paramedic people really helpful.

Bad points:
*Foam party?
*Couldn't find silent disco but found some headphones!
*Security horrible and scary. Didn't know anything. Pushed you around. Boystrous.
*By fluke I didn't have problem with coach but friends did - and was easy enough to do as everyone was misdirected. Didn't ask anyone, just went to place was told at the start and found it but it was only by the chance that ours was in that place.

Would probably go again as would assume they would do better next time.

Great night!!
Overall rating: 3.5

I had an amazing time! Dunno what everyone is talking about but i had great fun! Drum and bass room was wicked! Only problem i found was the price of drinks, I expected them to be cheaper for a student night. And why is someone moaning that their drink was spiked and for people being on drugs, surely that is your fault for not keeping an eye on your drink. Don't blame the event for not having sniffer dogs you idiot! People are gonna be taking drugs at a rave, thats what keeps everyone going :P haha
One of the best raves i been to :D

Overall rating: 3

Paid far too much to get in to then find out you dont get a list of times or signs to show you where to go so by the time we got into arena1 we had missed who we wanted to see. We shouldn't have to pay to get the times on a necklace when we have already forked out £20 for a bloody ticket.

Waste of money.
Overall rating: 2

Very disappointing, paid £35 for a ticket only to not be able to figure out who was on where and not get a drink anywhere. Queing for 40 mins to get to a bar, only to be told that they had run out of pretty much everything, that what was left was hugely overpriced and that they only accepted exact change. I would never go again.

Certaintly not what it promised to be.
Overall rating: 2.5

The Bad:

- Firstly, where was the foam party?
- Missed tinchy stryder as I ended up walking around in a giant circle as when I asked where the venue was I got sent on a wild goose chase
- Where the hell where the £1.50 drinks? I ended up paying more than double that!
-spent £40 on a ticket to find out a week later that they were half the price on the door
- The security didn't have a clue what they were doing/where they were/what was going on.
- where was the rockyoke???????
- couldn't find the silent disco
- the food was overpriced
- where were the arenas that were open till 6am?????
- DRAINED LAKE???? lies
- why where there no maps and very few sheets with the running order on?
- The 3D disco was extremely dissapointing. Two small screens? FAIL

The Good:

- great atmosphere
- quite fun

Certainly not worth the money. Would have rather just gone out on the town to a few bars and a club... and my bank account would have looked more healthier if i'd had chosen that option too.

Would Have been alot better if the drinks where not double the price they said they were, barmen being really slow with the service and the whole event didnt turnout to be a bunch of lies pretty much. I definately wouldnt be going again because i was ripped off in general.

DIDN'T EVEN MAKE IT
Overall rating: 1

Turned up at the allocated place to meet the coach - the bar had never heard of Block Party!
So spent £30 on a ticket to get NOWHERE apart from a massive phonebill!
absolutely ridiculous, will be getting my money back!
But looking at the rest of the reviews looks like i didn't miss much anyway.
SHOCKING!

could have been better

Didn't realise it was going to be soo spread out and would have to walk to each venue. Wouldn't have been too bad if we were given a map or something, instead of walking aimlessly to see what we could find. The times acts were on stage should have been given for free as a leaflet or something, the only option was a neck tag thing for £5 no thanks! There were a couple of posters up with times, but they were taken down during the night. Only got to see Tinchy Stryder out of the headliners, was good and there were lots of good djs playing alternative music. We had to have our bags checked everytime we went into Air, which was a pain and they were confiscating chewing gum?! Drinks were expenive! The staff didn't seem to know anything about the foam party! Me and my friends eventually found where it was meant to be and there was NO foam!?! Looked around ages for the silent disco, it was meant to be at the old library?! Glad we found it in the end, stayed there for hours it was so good, otherwise would have probably gone home

not worth the money
Overall rating: 3

i was so excited about block party bringing a great end to freshers but i was rly dissapointed. £38 on a ticet and i didnt even get to see half of wat i wanted to as there was no maps so just had to keep walking round n round to find the different venues. my friend mainly paid just to see dr zeus and the other bhangra acts but when we got the old library no1 was playing and none of the security guards could tell us why or even if any of the acts were goin to show up...we left about 1am and they still werent there so im guesing they never came.
drinks were expensive n some bars ran out pretty early into the night.
best part of my night was goin on that massively tall fun fair ride. wouldnt go again next year.

Block Party.
Overall rating: 4

Im surprised at the negative reviews as i had a great time. I'm only a part time student so probably treated as a normal event as opposed to a student night. I did hear that the drinks were going to be £1.50 though and didnt see some of the things that were advertised for example foam party and silent disco. And it all seemed to be a bit delayed and unorganised with the setup for example the fences still being put up at 5 o clock and people not been let in till nearly 6 with large q's outside, but big events probably need a the first one to be a bit of an experiment so hopefully the organisers can review the feedback for next years event. Cant comment on the coaches as i live local. Agree that free maps/schedules should have been handed out and £5 is a rip off for a necklace thing. Loved the idea of the street being turned into a party and some good unique ideas like the mobile disco and iglu tent combined with the clubs rainbow, street marquee, factory complex and air. And the valve sound system is emmense, youre not going to get away from drugs at any rave so my opinion is take em or leave em. All in all was able to have a good night and would go again next year.
