Lineup and details
Mr Scruff breaks his 18 month Birmingham silence by releasing his Ninja Tuna into Custards Space2 on Saturday 11th October 2008.
The legendary DJ, producer, cartoonist and tea drinker, Mr Scruff, finally returns to greet his hungry Birmingham fans after being holed up in the studio for the last two years producing his new album Ninja Tuna, released Monday 15th September 2008.
Its been six years since he released his last album, Mrs. Cruff, which was a reissue of the Mr.Scruff album, first released on Pleasure Music in 97. All of us who know of Scruff, simply cant wait to be treated with tracks from the new album, live, when he hits us with it at Space 2 Custard Factory, on his promotional tour.
Last seen in Birmingham at his sell out gig in 2007, Scruff plans to keep it unreal by feeding your ears with some real treats off his new album Ninja Tuna live, for the first time in Birmingham.
Scruff embarks on a 3 month UK tour in early October to promote the much-awaited new album Ninja Tuna, the Prodigal Son returns to Birmingham with his record bag of tricks and invites you all to join him in his musical adventure playground.
Mr Scruff says, Really looking forward to playing in Brum again! We are bringing a FAT funktion one sound system for the true wobble factor...
One of the favourite DJs of Adam Regans Leftfoot crowd, Mr Scruff will be filling the Custard Factorys Space 2 with blends of Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, Jazz, Reggae, Latin, African, Ska, Disco, House, Funk, Breaks, Soundtracks and more, causing a tidal wave of dancing feet and smiling faces yet again!
Following three EPs released on Ninja Tuna records, Scruff is pleased to announce that finally, after six years, he has a new album out! Released 22nd September, 'Ninja Tuna' features 13 tracks, including collaborations with Quantic, Roots Manuva, Pete Simpson, Danny Breaks, Andreya Triana, Alice Russell, Andy Kingslow & Kaidi Tatham.
With samples from children's TV programmes embedded in many tracks as standard (like Thomas The Tank Engine in Fish off 1999
You can normally rely on a Mr Scruff set to attract a pretty jolly, very pleasant sort of a crowd. It's 'dance music' without those vicious chavs and super-club surroundings more at home in a damp festival tent, in a field somewhere.
