Currys, together with TV star James Redmond are encouraging residents of Bristol to perfect their digital photography skills this summer with a free in-store photography event.

The photography masterclass will take place on Saturday 26^th July at the Currys.digital store in The Mall Cribbs Causeway, Bristol as part of Currys nationwide digital photography initiative aimed to get the UK snapping and using their digital photography equipment to its full capacity. Digital photography ownership has seen a surge in popularity in recent years as people are now able to purchase high-quality equipment at increasingly affordable prices. Over 65% of UK households now own a digital camera or camcorder with over a third of these households owning more than one camera.

The in-store masterclass, hosted by James Redmond, will aim to help locals hone their digital photography skills with professional tips and advice provided by experts from Currys and Panasonic. Locals are also being encouraged to bring in and enhance their own photos by taking advantage of the very latest digital imaging technology in-store.

By picking up expert tips at the masterclasses, members of the public will be well equipped to enter their best snaps into Currys’ nationwide photography competition: ‘Our Lives’. Members of the public can submit up to 20 photographs and five videos across five different categories, at a dedicated website www.currysourlives.co.uk.

The winning entries for the national competition will be rewarded with a set of fantastic prizes with the overall winner receiving a fortnight’s holiday for two to anywhere in the world, worth up to £10,000! Six runners-ups will also receive a Panasonic prize bundle including a top of the range camera and camcorder, to ensure they have the best kit to showcase their talents.

James Redmond commented:  “I’m really looking forward to coming along to the Bristol masterclass and picking up some top tips from the photography experts in-store. From my years in front of the lens, both from my TV and modelling work, I’ve developed a keen interest in photography. Bristol has some great sights and buildings for people to capture so we want to encourage Bristol to get out and get snapping this summer!”
