Lineup and details for Frome Folk Festival on Saturday 18th February 2012
Saturday February18th and Sunday February 19th 2012.
Some of the top names in English folk have already been booked to appear at the winter weekend festival, which is set to take place in the historic town near Bath on Saturday, February 18 and Sunday, February 19.
Award-winning Irish songstress Cara Dillon, who lives in Frome, has accepted an invitation to be Patron of the inaugural festival.
Honey-voiced Dillon is a spellbinding performer who has been described as one of the best Irish female singers of all time. Her latest album Hill of Thieves won the Best Album title at the 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards while Cara was named Best Female Singer in the 2011 Spiral Awards.
Situated at the eastern end of the Mendip Hills, Frome boasts steep cobbled streets, old weavers cottages and historic Georgian buildings as well as the popular entertainment venue The Cheese and Grain which will be the focus of Englands newest folk festival. The venue takes its name from its previous existence as a 19th century market hall.
Festival Line-up includes: Spiers & Boden (including an evenign concert and rarely seen festival ceilidh with special guest caller Phil Bassindale), Bella Hardy, Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman, Tim Edey & Brendan Power, Belshazzar's Feast, Pilgrims' Way, Jenna Witts, Cole Stacey, Luke Jackson with more to announce (including a second headliner).
