Lineup and details for SPARTACUS LIVE - Jumpship + The Shebeats +Nick Williams on Sunday 5th October 2008
Jumpship
Light and shade. Beauty and ruin. Jump Ship inject style into Trip Hop.
Synthetic complexity is aligned with the acoustic nuances of cello and
guitar to support an ecliptic, dark and disarming feminine vocal charm.
Conflicting the classic and the contemporary, the Bristol based
sextets perfectly balanced yet authoritative glimmer of the future
resonates the passive, aggressive and progressive. Live, Jump Ship
possess a dynamic, compelling and competent presence. The group have
recently recorded their debut album for Naim Audio's new Naim Edge
label with producer Head (PJ Harvey/Massive Attack), due for nationwide
release on September 22nd...watch this space!
The Shebeats
The Shebeats are a very outgoing loud band of four girls producing
music inspired by the contents of our pants, fridge and record
collections as they put it. Which culminates in high energery,
infectious good time music perfect for parties or their club night
Club Fuzz they run in hometown Swindon. Expect an extremely
entertaining live show.
Nick Williams
In the corner of a small Bath café sits singer songwriter Nick
Williams. Dressed in a mismatching grey suit and waistcoat, he has a
look that would be more suited to 1920s Paris, than a modern day
smoking-banned England. Having worked with Mark Wallis, the producer of
the Smiths, U2 and Travis on his demo material, Nick is now preparing
to launch his debut EP Beach by the harbour. The album owes as much
to the people in the songs as it does to me, he says with a wry smile,
them and wine. Beach by the harbour is dripping with emotion and
has drawn comparisons to Jeff Buckley and Joni Mitchell.
The Skinnies
Formed in late 07 The Skinnies are a four piece band based in Bath.
With their folk esq guitar rythmns, punchy riffs and catchy melodies
The Skinnies are a band to look out for in the future.
