Lineup and details
Arguably the world's most famous music and arts festival, Glastonbury
resonates a spirit, character and scope that no other event has ever
managed to capture - and many have tried!
Spanning more than 1000 Somerset acres, the festival annually attracts over 170,000 people with tickets selling out in a matter of hours. Performances range from the biggest artists in the world down to the outright obscure, spanning genre, fashion and age.
While the cream of 'now' bands regularly attend, there's always room for some old favourites. Paul McCartney, Shirley Bassey, Brian Wilson and Van Morrison have all performed in recent years.
More than 1000 acts play across dozens of stages and arenas, including the Pyramid Stage, Other Stage, Jazz World, Dance Village, Left Field, Avalon, Acoustic Stage and last year's addition, the Park Stage.
But there's so much more than bands at Glasto. The site spreads back from the inside core of stages to give way to the famous Green Fields, the infamous Stone Circle and various other hives of collective energy. Artists, street performers, theatre groups and workshops provide jaw-dropping spectacles, artistic projects, and interactive experiences.
The festival is also heavily commited to charity and green issues with recycling encouraged, an emphasis on renewable energy sources and the highlighting of world issues.
... and there's so much more. Glastonbury is almost impossible to describe, it just has to be seen.
