Description of Wine Wharf
Close to London's Borough Market, the aptly-named Wine Wharf offers a wine menu packed with surprises as well as a superb dining menu. Originally part of the railway engineering works, it now sports a stylish shabby-chic feel, using leather sofas, subtle-lighting and background music to blend with the original features of the building. The wine list holds over 250 wines, but it's not the reserve of wine-buffs; there is no wine-snobbery here. The food ranges from snacks to a full menu and, like the approach to wine; the dishes are unimposing and good-natured. Typically, you can choose from dishes such as Thai fishcakes, steak with garlic mayonnaise and mushrooms with Brie. At around £25 per person for a three-course meal, this is a real food and wine comfort zone.
