We went on Saturday evening for the early bird menu at 5.30pm. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was spot on, we would definitely eat here again.

4 mature ladies, we booked the special £9.95 early dining (6.00pm)on Friday 28 January. We were shown the menu and told it was £15.50 but they accepted we had booked the Market Menu (limited to 3 starter, mains and deserts) at £9.95
Whilst we did not expect "the works" at £9.95 in such a up-market establishment we did not expect to be forced to purchase sides (e.g.£3.50 for chips!)because the meal did not include vegetables. So despite dining at 6.00pm (latest for the Market Menu is 6.30pm) and being very limited on choice we did not get the "deal" we expected.
Drinks were expensive but not unexpected so, and acceptable considering we were in a first class city centre hotel. However, coffee (and very poor quality coffee at that)at £5.00 for a small cup is by any standard quite ridiculous. The only other time I have paid £5.00 for a coffee (proper coffee)was in St.Marks Square in Venice with an Orchestra playing - that was worth it. When we were presented with the bill we were charged £15.50 for meal(plus extras) instead of £9.95 despite our earlier exchange and were forced to point this out to the waiter - rather embarrassing in front of other diners.
Let me summarise - the food is excellent but nowhere near ample quantity even for a light eater. The coffee is ridiculously expensive (even if we had been served a cafetiere. All we got was a small cup. A real pity because all we needed to ensure we re-visited was(say) a small vegetable side and coffee at(say)£2.95. We would not recommend this menu to anyone with a normal appetite and since you need to buy extras you might as well choose from the dozens of other options doing pre Theatre meals we consider to be "better value for money"
