The Wickerman Festival is an annual music festival held in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. Dubbed 'Scotland's Alternative Music festival', the festival celebrated its 10th Birthday in 2011.

The festival has grown from a grassroots festival of 1800 people in 2002 to 15,000 people in 2010.

Wickerman grows and grows

As Wickerman Festival grew from grass roots to a full-blown festival their ticketing was becoming problematic, costly and time consuming to implement. They were also finding it difficult to keep track of how many people were on the site at any one time, which presented some security issues.

They were aware that a ticketing system would cost a lot of money and wanted to look after their loyal customers. Their aim was to save them money on postage as well as including any booking fees in the ticket price.

They approached Skiddle and worked together with us on solutions.

Skiddle's RapidScan service

Wickerman Festival approached Skiddle at the same time we were developing their cutting edge RapidScan service. This is a handheld device that scans a bar code on a printed ticket or e-ticket.

RapidScan offers a new level of security as the bar code is unique to that ticket and ticket buyers can arrive at different times. This service keeps track of everybody who is on site and can be very useful for different levels of tickets i.e press and artists.

Inclusive Booking Fees

Skiddle worked with Wickerman Festival to ensure their customers could purchase tickets with the booking fee being inclusive of the ticket price

The result of the partnership has seen both Skiddle and Wickerman growing together and now Skiddle host the dance village at the festival and we work closely alongside each other on various elements of the festival.
