Bringing the heavy drum n bass vibes, Andy C also returns once more to Chibuku for another instalment of his epochal sets. Now widely held by his peers as the true scene leader, Andy has consistently swamped awards ceremonies - leading the way in the top 100 DJMag poll for dnb artists - and sold out raves on the strength of his name alone time and time again. Taking in every facet of the music with breathtaking ease, Andy remains the heavyweight junglist.
And if he’s running tings from the dnb front, then arguably a man doing similar things in the nascent dubstep arena is young hotshot Skream. While Burial may have ensnared a Mercury Music Award nomination, Skream remains the biggest force the music can muster in a club environment, with rippling sonics and wobbly basslines his forte. Old school drum n bass legend Shy FX is also back, the only artist who’s managed to lay down the darkest of dubplates and then find some funk from Sex & The City, injecting the music with soul and a sinister overtone.
Elsewhere on the electro tip Duke Dumont rocks up, making his Chibuku debut off the back of a flurry of strong remix action and agitated hype instilled from his DJ sets. Ransacking the murkier strains of electro, Duke’s allayed it to the bounce of the Baltimore sound and the cynical sneer of warehouse techno, crafting a panoramic vision of grit that ripples with hedonistic allure. He’s joined by one of Liverpool’s favourite sons, the enigmatic Brendan Long, who returns back to the city with an ever growing rep and the constant support of Bugged Out! Further announcements are scheduled for what already boast the hallmarks of a Chibuku classic.
Local-guys-doing-good the Coco de Mer crew also drop in for some action in The Bar.
