The Scottish Government initiative 'Homecoming Scotland 2014' is, alongside EventScotland and VisitScotland, tirelessly putting together a countrywide celebration of Scotland's rich cultural heritage through a series of active pursuits, nature appreciation, food and drink affairs and cultural highlights, which is where Wickerman Festival steps in.

This year will see the inauguration of the Lowland Links tent, complete with a diverse line up of music, interactive entertainment and smatterings of local history, with each day ending in an energetic, all guns blazing ceilidh in true Scottish fashion.

The other new addition will see the festival's first ever kilted Wicker Man. As the physical centrepiece of the eclectic festival, the 40 foot Wicker Man, inspired by the classic 1973 Robin Hardy movie will be garbed in striking kilt woven from willow, making the already mammoth spectacle even more breathtaking this year.

That accompanied with Wickerman's already announced line up (check that out here) are sure to make for a wicked example of Scottish merrymaking that you cannot afford to miss.
