May is drawing ever nearer and that means two words, two times - Bank Holiday. Not only do we get five weekends this month, but a couple of them are a day longer, and there's an absolute shed load of options for you to get stuck into.

Festivals

Festivals pretty much kick off this weekend, with Brew at the Bog in Inverness and Manchester's Sounds from the Other City both exploring live music at its finest.

The next Bank Holiday boasts Liverpool Sound City, rave emporium Outbreak, live music joy Dot to Dot, boutique delight Leestock and family favourite Alfresco. Fancy squeezing something in between? We're now behind the tickets for BBC Radio 1's Academy, and there is the small matter of The Great Escape forthcoming too.

Clubs

Could this be the last ever Cream at Nation? We spoke to resident Anthony Probyn about it, as well as Rødhåd who is in London on Sunday. Elsewhere you can see the likes of DJ Sneak in Carlisle (see the house gangster in action above), Pete Tong in Hatfield and Gorgon City in Bolton, whilst 303 turn two in Liverpool with Dave Clarke and Def Mix are at Ministry of Sound (check out our mix from Tedd Patterson).

Then the Bank Holiday after that sees the return of A Wing and Covert taking over Sankeys, and the small matter of things getting heated up on an island in the Mediterranean. IMS takes place and Sankeys Ibiza opens - if you are planning a trip there this summer be sure to check our dedicated Ibiza section.

That's me out for another week; enjoy whatever you get up to this weekend.
