29th Apr 2008
Music fans wondering what's on in Manchester will be disappointed to learn that indie darlings Vampire Weekend have again postponed their gig in the city. The US band were due to play Manchester in early March but were forced to postpone the gig because of illness.
At the time, the band said: "We were very psyched to come, but at least we'll be back in May.
"We sincerely apologise to anyone who was planning on seeing us. Hope we can make it up to you in a couple of months."
Now, however, the US group have again postponed their Manchester show, which was supposed to have taken place on May 8th.
The band offered no reason for the cancellation, but their MySpace page suggested that the gig could be rescheduled to take place on June 1st.
Vampire Weekend made a name for themselves on a number of influential blogs and are famous for their incorporation of African popular music and Western classical music into their songs.
