Unsigned Artist's bid for Chart Success!

Boston-born singer-songwriter Georgina Callaghan is to take on the UK’s musical establishment this Autumn with a determined ‘do-it-yourself’ campaign to storm the charts.

The 25-year-old is rallying her 40,000 MySpace friends and other music fans to take her into the top 40 without being backed by any record label or manager.

Callaghan, who professionally just uses her surname, wants to prove that singing covers on the ‘X Factor’ is not the only way to make it in the modern music industry – and fans of real music and original songs can help a talented musician succeed.

With a gift for lyrics and a haunting voice, Callaghan grew up in Lincolnshire before moving to London to pursue her dreams of a singing career. She’s been gigging on the London acoustic scene for five years and has built up a loyal fan base.

Currently available to pre-order from www.callaghaninfo.com, Callaghan will release her self-penned song ‘Look Around’ as a download on Saturday 26th October. If around 2,500 UK fans buy it before midnight on Saturday 1st November she’ll stand a great chance of making the Top 40 the next day.

Speaking about her David vs Goliath campaign Callaghan said:

“I love gigging, I love writing, but now I want to bring my music to a wider audience. Lots of radio stations have told me they love my music, but won’t put me on air until I am signed by a record company.

Modern music can’t be all about Simon Cowell and a few executives sitting in plush West End offices dictating what
music the British public should listen to.

I want to show that things have changed, downloads have made music more democratic, and now fans can decide
who becomes famous.

I’ve got 40,000 MySpace friends around the world, but to reach the charts I need 2,500 UK fans to sign up to support my campaign and download Look Around on October 26th. I hope the public will get behind me!”
Callaghan is appealing to everyone who wants to support her campaign to log on to her website
www.callaghaninfo.com and register as a supporter. Fans who register will receive news, updates and a free
Callaghan song to enjoy.

As Callaghan’s aim is to bring her music to a wider audience all proceeds will be donated to music charity Live Music Now (www.livemusicnow.org) which supports young musicians – her single is available to pre-order through www.callaghaninfo.com now.
