Down in the West Country Bristol will be reverberating to a shindig that focuses on a genre of music with a rich history in the region; reggae. Bristol's strong Caribbean culture has been a huge part of the city since the fifties, and that's reflected in a music scene that has always been a brilliant fusion of a variety of cultures, styles and tastes. This Love of Dub event offers a Valentine's option for any lovers of the genre to immerse themselves in everything reggae related, in particular the dubbed out soundscapes.
The sounds come from Soom T & Gardna, Tuff Scout, Earl Gateshead and plenty more, including a live 16 pieces samba mash up form the Batala Samba Collective. Expect hip-hop, dancehall, jungle and dubwise to all flit in and out of the mix, and if that wasn't enough they give out free samosas on the night. What more could you want?

The final option sees a bands gig for your perusal at Bush Hall in London. Psychedelic six piece West of the Sun headline the event, with support from bluesy rockers Columbia, all giving you a chance to spend the evening with your date holding hands to the sound of jangling guitars and crushing sonics. Pretty standard no? Well for us its the other support act which we feel throws you the chance to do something that little bit off the beaten track for the evening.
Before both these artists get the chance to bring their shine on it's all about Judy Shire, a singer fiendishly monikered as the Devil's Daughter. The self professed queen of Vamp Rock, Shire's lyrics evoke tales of the a darker accompaniment to humanity, weaving a rich tapestry of Vampires, Witches and black magic (evidenced by the haunting 'Beyond Imagination' above). If you fancy adding a dash of Lucifer to your love this year, look no further than Shire and her blackened romance.
