The Motorettes - 'I Am Blisters, I Am'
Championed by the NME and XFM, and with three truly indie limited edition singles 'Super Heartbeats', 'You Gotta Look The Parts', and super hard to find 10" double A side vinyl with fellow Northerners Kubichek! (featuring 'Relax It's The 80s') ALL selling out in their first week of release. The Motorettes have been brought firmly into the 'ones to watch' bracket of most promoters and music fans thoughts alike.
The Motorettes' recently released self-titled debut album, which in its highly respectable 8/10 review from NME had James Jam declaring his elation stating "My jaw aches from smiling after merely thinking about these songs, testament to their absolute brilliance!" has been acclaimed as 'A whirlwind of a debut' by Rocksound, featuring 'High Speed, Foot-stomping, symphonic' in the words of Q magazine, and "Bursting with power-pop enthusiasm and quality songwriting' by Music Week.
A continuing string of successful dates the length and breadth of the UK, supporting bands as diverse in style as We Are Scientists, Orson, Editors and The Futureheads shows that The Motorettes fall outside the boundaries of sub-sub-genred rock music that clumps together to parallel the latest trends.
Their recent co-headline tour with Kubichek! saw them received almost maniacally with gigs that usually ended in mass stage invasions whilst both bands hammered any instrument available in the final song of the night.
Perhaps it's the seemingly untangle-able undertone of bands like The Ramones and The Beach Boys, or 60s girl groups like The Ronnettes and The Shirelles that make The Motorettes appeal to everyone, bands and public alike.
