On first listen, The Hours’ second release, “See The Light” produces a majority of huge tunes with the songs that didn’t stick at first catching up shortly after. The opening track, “Big Black Hole” sets the precedent for the album, which takes us on a journey from heartbreak to redemption in the form of “See The Light”. The song titles could give us a clue as to the kind of experience this record will give you, but the content sets it in stone. The melodies are beautiful and the lyrics are well written and up-lifting, highlighting that this piano led rock album is ultimately about hope. Book-ended by singles, the record starts and ends on a positive note, allowing tracks 2 – 9 to follow on from, and anticipate, an anthemic start and end.
