The Forest Party on Saturday 22nd of August

Chibuku Shake Shake and vinspired Lake of Stars presents... The Forest Party Saturday 22nd August 2009

Date published: 27th Jul 2009

Some nights achieve notoriety with one fell swoop, others takes years to slowly and methodically build upon it, and for a select few it is somehow bestowed upon them through a mixture of luck, hard graft and the occasional broad stoke of genius.

Which is what happened to Chibuku Shake Shake.

Whilst the night grew exponentially in Liverpool at The Lemon Lounge, month on month evolving at a pace never since matched in the city, the first forest party achieved iconic status as an event which surpassed all expectations, and was rife with typical CSS shenanigans. Not least with the crackling sense of expectation in the air; many patrons asking when did the 2 mile walk end; excitement brimming and fading and only then tuning into the distant, bassy beats drifting through the gloom like lost moths drawn to a dim light until finally they happened upon that glorious site in a grassy, tree strewn valley, and all hell broke lose – in the best possible way.

Whisking 200 clubbers into the wilderness for a party nestled in the seclusion of a forest somewhere near Preston for a party which established itself as one of the formative events of Chibuku’s entire history, distilling the spirit of the club into one riotous 12-hour session complete with morning joggers, tumbling through the bracken and one slumbering soul left behind made for a small slice of Chibuku’s large history. But one which is still spoken of in reverential tones now. Yes there have been more forest (and barn) parties and they have all finger-tipped touched the first, but none have quiet ever matched that inaugural leafy romp.

So here is the clarion call for the party of the summer. Chibuku has linked up with founder and now vinspired Lake of Stars Malawi director Will Jameson for a forest party harking back to the very good old days. One for the heads, so to speak, and with the 10th anniversary looming next year this party heralds the countdown towards March 2010.

Tickets are already flying, and are capped to 300 people at a secret location in the North West, with all night long music from residents and friends.

It’s often said don’t miss this, but this time we really mean it…
