The Backline Live Acoustic Stage at Guilfest 2010

24th Jun 2010

This year, GuilFest's Acoustic Stage will return bigger and better than ever before. Sponsored by new Guildford venue Backline Live, the stage will feature a great line-up of some of the best singer/songwriters and acoustic performers the UK has to offer - as well as intimate performances from some of the top acts already playing at the festival.

On Friday 16th July, highlights will include Farnham based Americana rock band Two Fingers of Firewater; popular Woking skiffle outfit Charley Farley Sunday Four; Ozzie blues/rock guitarist JJMD, as well as Sophie Elizabeth, Danny Leigh, Alice Armstrong, Matthew Kilford, Fred Clark, Freddie Page, Nic Bennett, Ross Bennett, Caomhe and Hannah Dorman.

Saturday 17th July sees local heroes New Rising and the fabulous Susie Clarke topping the bill, with support from some wonderful talent including singer/songwriter Jo Weston, Kamla, Rokhsan, White Pigeon, Jasmine Rodgers, Natalie Ross, Carly Bryant, Steve Rodgers, Ryan Keen, Katie Harper and Declan Zapala. Be sure to look out for a surprise special guest performance!

Last, but most certainly not least, 10cc, Mungo Jerry, The David Goo Variety Band, and Redwood are among the big- hitters all featuring in The Backline Live Acoustic Stage on Sunday 18th July.  They are joined by a veritable plethora of brilliant acoustic performers from the local area and further afield, including Bemis, True Deceivers, Joe Johnston, Whittake Brothers, Witchdoktors, Eskimo Pie, Nicolette Street, Manu and Aimee.

Closing the stage each evening will be a sing-a-long for everyone to get involved in. This has proved very popular over the last couple of years, and will this time be led by the consummate performer DU Kane on Friday and Sunday night, with Nick Thurtell looking after things on Saturday.

GuilFest 2010 features 7 stages of live music, with performances on the Main Stage this year from Orbital, The Human League, Status Quo, The South (Formerly The Beautiful South), N-Dubz, and Level 42 amongst others.
