Following the Radio 1 B-List singles ‘Time Warp’ and ‘Rock It’, Ram Records presents ‘Could This Be Real’, the latest single by Sub Focus. The single features a remix by the man himself as well as Bristol’s Purple Dubstep King, Joker and promises to propel Sub Focus even further into the ears and minds of the music world.
‘I just want to be known as someone who makes good dance music…’ said Nick Douwma aka Sub Focus to Mixmag when asked about his debut, self titled album: where drum and bass smash hits mix effortlessly with more experimental, electronica-influenced tracks, and some surprising, non drum and bass gems like this one.
Opening with an uplifting piano riff borrowed from classic house that drives the tune throughout, complimented by smooth, soulful vocals underpinned by some clean, slow 2/2 breaks, the track breaks into a filthy, infectious bass-line that you can’t help but dance to. ‘Could This Be Real’ is a genre defying hit that smashes it on the dance floor but works just as well on the airwaves.
