Smirnoff Introduce new Flavours With a Great big ice Bridge.
2nd Sep 2008
As part of a Bristol-wide trial of the new Lime Smirnoff and Green Apple Smirnoff Vodka, which will only be available in selected bars and grocery stores in Bristol, Smirnoff have announced that they will be unveiling a huge ice installation of the Clifton Suspension Bridge on the 5th of September by the Cascade steps in the Watershed Area of Bristol City Centre.
The replica, measuring 8 metres long by 2.5 metres high, will celebrate the Bristol-only trial of 2 new flavours of Smirnoff vodka; Green Apple and Lime.
The installation will see one of the world’s top ice sculptors, Jamie Hamilton, work through the night to construct the bridge from a mix of clear and white ice. The ice blocks for the sculpture are being prepared in giant freezers at Hamilton’s workshop in South West London and will be transported to Bristol for arrival on the 5th, where they’ll be slotted into place, some filled with limes and green apples and shaped into Brunel’s illustrious design.

The bridge will weigh-in at an impressive 4 tonnes and will take 2 men approximately 4 hours to construct and carve from the time the blocks arrive on site. Once completed, the sculpture will be on show by the Cascade steps for all to see and photograph, day and night, until the ice melts and the bridge disappears.
“When the Smirnoff Team approached me with the idea, I couldn’t quite believe it. I’ve worked on some exciting projects in the past but nothing quite compares to this. I know how much the bridge means to Bristolians and just hope they feel I do it justice.” (Ice Sculptor, Jamie Hamilton)
“We wanted to do something original and exciting and resolutely Bristol to mark the trial of Lime Smirnoff and Green Apple Smirnoff in the city. When we saw what Jamie had in store, we were blown away. Just make sure you get to see it before it melts!” (Smirnoff, Michael Martin)
