Sip and Kip in Manchester

30th Jan 2010

Here at Skiddle we’ve found the five most romantic bars for you to knock back the fizzy stuff  on Valentine's Day in Manchester and the five coolest hotels to enjoy your evening afterwards in!
Places to Sip
Epernay @ Great Northern Towers
This new venture fuses contemporary architecture and intimate surroundings to create the perfect place to enjoy a glass of bubbly this Valentines.
Moet Bar @ Selfridges
Looking out over Exchange Square, this popular bar features designer champagne and cocktails from Tracey Boyd, Julien MacDonald and Alice Temperley among others. It’s certainly the place to be seen sipping the good stuff, but don’t get too comfortable otherwise you could be looking at a pretty hefty bill!
Cloud 23@ Hilton Deansgate
Certainly the most unique bar in the city, with terrific views and an ambience that matches it’s cool location. Sip some bubbly together looking out over the skyline in sensual contemporary surroundings and let the evening decide where to take you further. It’s truly worth being up in the clouds for this experience.
Panacea, John Dalton Street
With a tough selection policy, you’d better look smart if you want to enjoy Manchester’s most sophisticated bar. Always popular yet snug, the modern décor and sexy interior will put you in the right mood for the evening. You can even hire a booth for a more personal experience, although remember this night out doesn’t come cheap.
Velvet Bar, Canal St
Manchester’s stylish boutique hotel boasts a fabulous lounge bar where you can enjoy some great drinks and watch the world go by in a relaxing yet funky atmosphere. With its indulgent décor and Moulin Rouge feel, you’ll feel like part of the furniture. Enjoy.
Places to Kip
After enjoying your drink, why brave the cold? If Velvet is where you’ve chosen to start your evening, why not choose to end it there as well! Aiming for a cross between New York’s chic East Village and London’s stylish West End, Velvet is a thriving and decadent boutique hotel in a terrific location near to the city centre. The rooms have all you could wish for and a lovely warm feel which will certainly put you in the mood for a romantic evening in.
Why not stay in Cliff Richard’s own hotel this Valentine’s? The Arora offers five great Cliff-themed rooms all furnished to a very high standard! Of course, if Cliff’s not your thing then enjoy the great Obsidian restaurant and bar, backlit in gorgeous aquamarine before heading up to one of the other 140 rooms that Cliff hasn’t touched!
If you like your boutique hotels and Velvet’s full then try Lushpads on Oldham Street. Each pad has a gorgeous king size bed with Nasa technology mattress and if you feel like a pamper after your champers then book in at the lush spa for a massage, facial or other relaxing treatment. Truly lush!
This luxury town house hotel used to be a Victorian school house, although now the only lessons are in love. Only a stones throw from the city centre, this chic hotel has unique individually designed rooms and suites to make sure you have a truly memorable Valentine stay.
Of course, if you want to splash out this February 14th then treat your loved one to a stay in Manchester’s finest hotel. With a terrific location in the heart of the city, this uniquely stunning hotel boasts some of the largest rooms in Manchester, with a top class restaurant and spa to complete the experience. Luxurious and elegant, each room comes equipped with everything you could want, and the use of the hotel’s Bath Doctor, meaning you can soak yourself in romance all evening. Gorgeous.
