Sash at 53 Degrees on the 21st of May - Review

22nd May 2009

Sash was the headliner at the recent sell out gig at 53 Degrees in Preston and he gave a good eurovision style show. Kitted out with his trio of sexy dancers flying flags from around the world he introduced the show with the iconic 'Encore une Fois' followed by 'Equador'.

He seemed to be a real crowd pleaser and you could feel the anticipation amongst the predominantly student audience. Amongst all its cheesiness sash turned out to be quite entertaining. With the green lasers, the dancers and the woop wooping between every line of each song he was everything that you expected him to be, and it took you back in time to a place when Sash was a bit more than a novelty act.

He let himself down on the build up between songs however. With his limited set list he seemed to be filling the gaps with getting the audience up to sing. It seemed as though the audio equipment had broken and he was uncomfortably trying to fill the time. Instead of carrying the momentum on from the last song, he just stopped to a deadly silence.

Saying that, what's wrong with a bit of cheesiness here and there. Don't take it too seriously and you would be sure of some great quality techno style raving. Woop Woop!
