It doesn’t really get any bigger than this. A gig crowning the start of the August bank holiday weekend, one featuring the biggest DJs on the planet – a title bestowed concurrently through 2007 and 2008 by the esteemed readers of DJ Mag to Armin van Buuren, the Dutch trance super star who is visiting Sankeys Friday 28th.
From someone who started out studying law, many are grateful that fate led Armin on a different – and certainly more dynamic – path, for during the last few years he has evolved into one of the biggest spinners on the planet, bar none. Ousting the likes of Paul van Dyk and Tiesto from the trance hierarchy through his epic DJ sets and productions along with his long running radio show, A State of Trance, Armin has raised and smashed the bar many times over. Albums have included the seminal 10 years, 2008’s Imagine and a remixed version of Imagine which came out this year too.
Prolific isn’t really the right word – but expect something very special as Armin van Buuren comes to Sankeys in Manchester for a master class of trance.
Globe trotting Glen Morrison supports Armin and brings his prog and trance-suffused sound to Ancoats, along with ace trance producer and remixer Alex M.O.R.P.H and Adam Flexer.
