After all the hype surrounding the night and the increased price of 40 euros, I had pretty high expectations for the night. However, I was far from disappointed. Not only was the club itself as intense as I expected but the music was truly immense and provided a variation from Trance to Progressive House and back again. The pre-party and the free bus transfers proved it was a well organised event well worth attending.
The line-up for the night included big names such as Sasha as well as less well-known DJs that together provided a great compilation of Trance, House and Progressive Trance. The main room's line-up consisted of Ferry Corsten between 11 and 2, who played his Trance beats, similar to those from his latest album, ´Loud, Electronic and Ferocious´.
Between 2 and 4am Sander Van Doorn played a mixture of trance, techno and house that created a buzzing atmosphere in the main room and reminded everyone why he was awarded Best breakthrough DJ in 2008. It was then John O´Ocallaghan than took over between 4 and 6, playing trance and elctro tunes that not only helped the crown cool down but were very reminiscent of the Irish DJ´s album, 'Never fade away.'
The main room concluded with Guiseppe Ottariami offering a solid trance set through from 6 until close.
The Mixmag Terrace was less hectic, however the line-up was anything but disappointing. Sasha opened up with an amazing set that went through until 4am and really proved why he was named the best world DJ by DJMAG back in 2000. He reassured the crowd that although his House and Progressive house has been around since 1989 he is still as fresh as some of the new kids on the block.
This room continued with Sebastian Leger playing some amazing French Filter house that was very refreshing for those who wished to escape the mayhem of the main room between 4 and 6. It finalised in style with the Techno and Progressive House of Kim Fai till closing. Overall an unforgettable, varied and amazing line-up.
As for the highlights and best tunes it’s difficult to say because it was very much due to personal preference, but my favourite was undoubtedly Sasha. Not only did this DJ prove that after all these years he still has it, but the atmosphere in the less hectic MIXMAG terrace allowed one to rave on their own. As for the main room and its heavy club-goers Sander Van Doorn was undeniably the DJ that kept the crowd going wild and thirsty for more.
The atmosphere at Cream in Amnesia is truly amazing and not to be... although it is a smaller club than I expected it provides an atmosphere that is truly unique. The tunes are immense and the line-ups always stand out. Also, with the option of paying 20 euros extra for VIP even the more quite and subtle ravers can enjoy it. However if you go don't forget your wallet as water can cost up to 10 euros and other drinks anything up to 25 euros. A night not to be missed but cash is needed to fully enjoy it.
