Review: Cazals - to Cut a Long Story Short

18th Dec 2007

Cazals are undoubtedly destined for big things. Let's cut a long story short. They are oh so trendy, but hate being seen as this. Pete Doherty was their playground pal, so it comes as no surprise they have toured with Babyshambles. French label Kitsune recently got them to sign on the dotted line.

And while living in the East End of London they put on warehouse parties, one of which was headlined by Bloc Party.

But they tell us to forget all about that. "Cazals are as bored of it as you should be. For Cazals, as you will see, are a band who, in every respect, are all about the future." Okay, it's forgotten. We are looking to the future. Their new single, To Cut a Long Story Short', a stripped down Spandau Ballet cover, released this week, is fast moving, infectious track which is a pleasing warm patchwork blanket of sounds.

Fusing together 80's nostalgia, punk, a disco friendly tempo and a sexily gruff lead vocal, the new single is evidently soon going to be talked about more than their icy cool past.

Remixes from Vicarious Bliss, autoKratz and Streetlife DJs
