Friday 1st October saw Skiddle head down to Store Street beneath Piccadilly Station for Boys Noize and Boysnoize Records' takeover of The Warehouse Project

The line-up of the evening consisted of a very European electro collective, including djedjotronic, Andro, Stripsteve, Shadow Dancer, Jimmy Edgar, DJ Feadz, Smith n Hack, Housemeister, and of course not forgetting the ones we were all there for – Fake Blood and Boys Noize.

Upon arrival it was pretty easy to get to the bar and have time to soak up the surroundings. Despite being a vast area, the venue is also pretty intimate with brick arches, hidden corners, atmospheric lighting and impressive neon strobe displays. The sound system is phenomenal, and reaches wherever you are in the venue.

The thing about Warehouse is you don’t realise the amount of people that are actually packed in. One minute you’re stood with a small group of people, and the next your completely surrounded.

Everyone is excited for the night ahead, and Housemeister really gets the crowd going and warmed up for Fake Blood & Boys Noize. The atmosphere is filled with eager anticipation, ravers are dancing manically already, then just before Fake Blood are due onstage Housemeister does something pretty unexpected and creates a electoronic, riotous mix of Papa Roach’s 'Last Resort'. This goes down an absolute storm. Quite possibly the last track I would have expected to hear on this particular night, but this really has upped the ante.

Remaining a man of mystery for quite a while, before it was discovered he was in fact one half of The Wiseguys and British DJ and producer Theo Keating, Fake Blood has certainly defined electronic house music in recent times. Tonight he is on form. Every crunching bass line, disco cut up and turbo powered drop throws the crowd into a frenzy. ‘Cheap And Cheerful’, ‘Fix Your Accent’ and ‘Mars’ were among the setlist. The introductory beat of ‘I Think I Like It’ kicks in. The dirty bass lines, violin riffs and electronic disco mash-up resulted in what appeared to be one of the best and craziest moments I have experienced at a Warehouse Project before.

Surely Fake Blood cannot be matched. We know the set is coming to an end, and there are some pretty exhausted, sweaty and UV infused people out there that look like they would sell their last glow-stick for a few seconds of fresh air, but too late… A seamless takeover of the decks and mixer has just happened and Boys Noize have begun. Suddenly it appears that everyone is back in the zone, with even more energy than before.

Boys Noize, who is Berlin's wonder-kid Alex Ridah, seems to inject energy into the crowd with his fast cut up mixing of unreleased exclusives, underground classics and favourites such as ‘& Down’, ‘Let's Buy Happiness’ as well as new single ‘Yeah’.  It's heavy, it's noisy and it’s the sound of computers going berserk, however not as berserk as some of the shapes that are being thrown by some of the revellers. The atmosphere is electric.

Unfortunately there was no play of  the ‘My Moon My Man’ remix which has always been a crowd pleaser at live shows, but he well and truly pulled it out of the bag with ‘Jeffer’ – a highlight of the set for many people.

Boys Noize put on a stellar line-up on their takeover night - one which has to be matched by many more on many nights to come on the lead up to the Warehouse Project's finale on New Years Day. There are some big boots to fill here. It was loud, messy and exhausting... but we definitely want to do it all again!
