October sees Now Wave present John Wizards when they come to the ever popular Deaf Institute on Tuesday 28th October.
From Cape Town to Manchester, John Wizards is an exciting band hailing from South Africa that are rich in vibrant eclectic tones with a sound that refuses to be ruled by genre.
The music is the brainchild of John Withers and touches on all aspects of the musical spectrum via a strong African influence. This air of versatility makes John Wizards such an exciting band, keeping audiences on their toes whilst taking them on a unique musical safari. Check out their musical exploits in the Boiler Room appearance above.
Their self titled debut longplayer, snapped up my Mike Paradinas' cutting edge Planet Mu imprint plays out as a unique melting pot of instruments and inspiration, successfully creating a sound that celebrates the finest in everything from Shangaan electro to Caribbean dub culture.
Highlights like the joyous 'Lusaka by Night' (above) incorporate warm melodies and beautiful synth sounds that are typical of the band who hold that charming ability to really get under your skin with their music. Grab your tickets here.
