New on Tectonic: 2562 'Love in Outer Space'

29th Jun 2009

'Aerial' was charted heavily in multiple end of year 'Best Of 2008' charts as 2562's exceptional balance of deep hypnotic soundscapes, space funk bouncing grooves and soundsystem crushing basslines caught the attention of Djs, producers, reviewers and ravers alike. 2562 is back with some brand spanking new transmissions showing he is able to flip the script and maintain a sense of pioneering force with what amounts to possibly his biggest ever release yet...

'Love In Outer Space' is a woozy intergalactic machine funk trip - the way the rhythm of the 808 beat falls over itself sounds like it generates some kind of perpetuated motion like a moon buggy with square wheels. In comes a laser like stab - almost arpegiated - adding to the disorientation of the beats and bass, before an alien sounding chord sequence punches through, bringing the whole composition together. It's as groundbreaking and confusing as 2001: A Space Oddessy and marks a distinctive shift in sound and style of 2562's more techno based productions of last year. Big support from Kode 9 and many more.

'Third Wave' is a more accessible 4/4 roller but is no less rewarding for it. Having torn up dancefloors worldwide in the hands of everyone from Martyn, Appleblim, Peverelist and many others, this energising rhythm, painted with colourful sonics and emotive chord changes sounds like Herbie Hancock hitting up a dubstep fix! As featured on the Tectonic Plates Vol 2 Pinch mix (along with 'Love In Outer Space'), 'Third Wave' makes for a healthy slice of high quality foot shuffling genius!
