My Chemical Romance's short songs

20th Nov 2009

My Chemical Romance are inspired by The Stooges.

The 'Teenagers' rockers are currently in the studio working on the follow-up to 2006's 'Black Parade' LP and say they are trying to take their music in a completely different direction.

Frontman Gerard Way told Rolling Stone magazine: "We wanted ti harness everything that's great about this band into shorter songs. Almost protopunk, like the Stooges or the MC5.

"We want to be an American rock band instead of a British rock band."

One of Gerard's favourite songs in the new album is entitled 'Death Before Disco' and he is excited about hearing fans' response to it.

He said: "I can't wait for people to hear it. To me, it's the greatest song we've ever written ? it's my favourite My Chemical Romance song."
