Muse will headline Reading and Leeds Festival 2017

Bastille, Glass Animals and more are amongst the names included in the first wave of announcements for the August bank holiday weekender.

The advent calender has delivered a good un this 1st of December, with epochal news in from the festival world. Muse have been unveiled as the first headliner of Reading Festival and Leeds Festival 2017, for a UK 2017 festival exclusive. The powerhouse rock trio from Devon have enjoyed a 2016 full of highlights including a Best Rock Album Grammy for Drones and a triumphant headline slot at Glastonbury.

Their last appearance at the August Bank Holiday weekender was back in 2011 were they shared headline duties with My Chemical Romance, The Strokes and Pulp.

Also announced to play across the weekend are digital dancehall dons Major Lazer and Bastille, who have recently concluded a huge tour that has taken them around Europe in support of their second studio offering, Wild World

They're joined by high octane post-hardcore rockers At the Drive-in, Canadian rapper Tory Lanez and Glass Animals, whose undeniable electro indie gems proved a hit across multiple festival stages this summer.
