Micheal Jackson the King of Pop Dies age 50

26th Jun 2009

The 50-year-old star was rushed to UCLA hospital at around midday yesterday (25th of June) after collapsing in his Los Angeles home.

Micheal was not breathing when paramedics arrived on scene. He was in a coma by the time he got to the hospital and attempts to revive the star failed. He died at 2.26pm local time. Jackson’s body will "most likely" undergo an autopsy today (June 26), a Los Angeles coroner said.

This tragic death comes just weeks before he was due to make his pop comeback with a 50-night concert residency in London's O2 Arena.

Despite the seemingly sudden death it seems Micheal's entourage including his lawyer are not so surprised... Mr Oxon, the family lawyer told CNN that "this is not something that has been unexpected... because of the medications micheal was under. I do not know the medications he was taking but the reports we have been recieving from the family are that they were extensive."

Micheal Jackson was said to be struggling with the grueling demands of the rehearsals for his comeback tour and reportedly came to rely on painkillers for the last few months of his life according to Mr Oxon.

Fans however are completely shocked and devastated. Hundreds continue to congregate around the Los Angeles Hostpital where he died paying their respects by leaving flowers and toys.

Madonna dubbed the queen of pop said the she "can't stop crying" over Micheal's death and said in a stetement that she has always admired him “The world has lost one of the greats, but his music will live on forever”

While the news spread around Glastonbury music fans have been playing tribute to the KIng Of Pop - his music is being played across the festival site at Worthy Farm in Somerset, as fans break out into spontaneous applause.

Tribute acts are expected from the performers at Glastonbury and it seems the stars shock death may overshadow the event that is officially getting under way this morning.

Love hi or hate him the world will deffinitely be remembering Micheal Jackson over the next few days and mourning the loss of such an influential personality in the music world.
